"Mindy!" Michael called upstairs.
"Yeah dad?"
"Come here for a sec!"
"Hold on!" Mindy finished touching up her make-up before she headed off for school. She ran downstairs and found her dad in his room behind an open suitcase, with clothes spread all over his king-sized bed. "Hi dad. What's up? Where're you going?"
"I have to leave again sweetie." He put some clothes into the suitcase.
"Where're you going?" Mindy repeated.
"I'm going to Japan on business. I'll be back in a week."
"But you just got back from France yesterday!"
"I know Mindy, but this is very important. I promise I'll take you on the next one, wherever that may be, if you want. I know we don't spend a lot of time togeather, so I'm willing to bring you next time."
"Alright." She sighed.
"The next door neighbors will watch the house. You have to go to school as usual. I left the money in the hiding place. I have to hurry or I'll miss my flight." He zipped his suitcase and gave Mindy a kiss on her cheek as he blew past her. "You bee good, like you usually are. See you in a week. Bye Mindy!" He called over his shoulder as he left the house. The door slammed shut.
"Yeah. Bye." She whispered. She staired at the closed door for a few seconds. "I'm alone. Again." She said out loud. "I think I'll stay home." She went back upstairs to her room and turned on the radio. "My dad is never home any more since he got that stupid raise to vice president of that stupid company. Why did my mom have to leave?" Since Crystal had left, Michael had taken up working heavily, to try and get over her. But in his acomplishments, he also has been forgetting about his only child, a just-turned-twelve daughter, Mindy. He wasn't even there for her birthday. Shehad spent it alone, her closest friends out of town for the weekend. A couple days later, her friends threw a party for her, but the day its' self, she spent alone.
Mindy got bored with the radio, so she went down to the den and watched t.v. Then she remembered about the money her dad had left.
"Shopping spree!!" She yelled as loud as she could. She got up and grabbed the v.c.r. remote, slid the battery compartment open and found the roll of bills. She quickly counted one, two, three, four hundred dollars. "First I'll go to the grocery store and take care of that. Then I'll go shopping." She said out loud to herself.
