Chapter Five
"Hi. I'm Tay." He smiled and held his hand out.
"Hi Tay. I'm Mindy. It's nice to meet you- personally." Mindy returned Tay's bright smile with one of her own, took his hand and shook it gently, then dropping it. "Lindsay and I were just discussing how much you and I look like eachother."
"Yeah. It blows my mind. Do you think that maybe SOMEHOW we are related? I mean, what're the odds of a thing like this happening? Well, know I know what I'd look like if I had been a girl. And you'd look like me if you were a boy."
"Hey. At least we wouldn't be ugly, right?"
"Right. I'd be beautiful. Ms. Popularity." He struck a pose with every sentence.
"Yeah. And I'd be..."
"A singer in a band without a girlfriend."
"The singer part doesn't sound so bad."
"It's not. It's totally awesome. Would I have a boyfriend?"
"Nope. Free as the shows on t.v."
"Well, then we wouldn't change much."
"Nope."
"Hello people!!!" Someone yelled really loud.
"Hi Zac." Tay said without even turning around.
"Hi Zac." Mindy smiled.
"Hey Mindy." Zac came up behind Tay and Mindy, then wiggled and squirmed his way between them.
"Where's Lindsay?" Mindy asked Zac.
"Inside. So, where did you come from?" Mindy didn't like Zac so close. She slid away a couple inches.
"Charlotte, North Carolina."
"Why are you here?" Tay asked.
"My dad had to go on a business trip- longer than usual, and he thinks I've spent too much time by myself already, so he put me down here."
"Where's your mom?" Mindy noticed Zac stairing at her stomach again.
"Gone. Somewhere." Mindy glanced at Zac again.
"Meaning..."
"I haven't seen her in three months."
"Oh." Tay said shortly.
"Is that real?" Zac pointed to Mindy's stomach.
"Yes it's real."
"Can I toutch it?"
"Sure." He reached out a hand and ran a finger around the silver ring.
"I wish I chould get something pierced. What does your dad think about this?"
"He doesn't."
"Doesn't think?!" He said, surprised.
"No, silly. He doesn't know about the ring."
"Oh. Would he approve if he knew?"
"No way. Not in a million years." Lindsay joined us. She stood behind Zac and wrapped her arms around his neck possessively. Zac rolled his eyes.
"So what are you guys talking about that you have to sit so close to Mindy, Zac?"
"Nothing special. Just the ring in her tummy. That's all."
"Alright. I was just seeing how my baby was doing." She kissed the top of his head. "I have to go back in."
"Kay." Zac said simply.
"Bye Zac."
"Yeah. Bye." Lindsay gave Mindy a look of suspicion, then dissappeared into the house.
"Just checkin' on my baby." Tay teased. Zac gave his brother a shove.
"Shut up."
"You know- you know what she's really doing." Tay said, laughing.
"What? What is she REALLY doing?" Zac was upset, which made Tay laugh harder.
"She's- she's checking on you to make sure you're not crawling on Mindy." Tay was laughing histerically.
"I don't see what you find so halarious." Zac said, crossing his arms and sticking his chin out. Tay calmed down.
"I just think it's kind of funny that Lindsay doesn't trust you with Mindy and I."
"I don't think that's funny. Not at all."
"Okay. You're right. It's not funny. It's not funny that she doesn't trust you." Tay smuggled a laugh.
"That's right. Now where were we?" He turned to Mindy and smiled innocently.
"Um...oh! We were talking about my ring."
