Elemental magick was a type of magick commonly used in L.J. Smith's series, The Secret Circle. Most of their spells were concentrated on the elements and things belonging to them in nature. Most of them had a special element they worked with. For example Faye Chamberlain's was fire, Melanie Glaser and Laurel Quincey worked with earth (Melanie with crystals, Laurel with herbs), and Adam worked best with water.
Magick here in reality also involves the elements. They are associated with the four directions and each have a guardian. Different elements are used for different magickal purposes, but we like them all present and listening. Here is a list of Elements and their correspondences
