Chapter 1 of Love, Pain, and Everything In Between
"OMIGOD" Colleen IMed her friend Liz online.
"What?" Liz replied. "What happened?"
"Hanson emailed me!! They emailed my back!!" Colleen typed excitedly.
"Woah, slow down" Liz wrote, "I'm not sure I follow."
So Colleen explained. The webpage, the guestbook, the email, and now, the reply!
"I'm going to email back right now! This is TOO cool!!" Colleen sent her email and signed off.
*One Week Later*
"Hold on a sec, I gotta check my mail" Colleen said to her friend Sara. They were over at Colleen's house getting ready for an upcoming volleyball game. Colleen checked the clock in the kitchen. They had about 5 minutes before they had to leave. She and Hanson had been emailing back and forth for a week, with one or two emails a day. The first few had been from Zac, but after Colleen had told them about
herself, Taylor had taking over the emails. She had learned a lot about them, and they about her, and they were becoming fast friends. They had
told her that she had their private email, and that's why the usuer name was "Walker Hanson."
"Well hurry up," Sara said impatiently glancing at her watch. "I don't know why it's so important to you, you can always check it later." Colleen smiled secretly to her self. Liz was the only one of her friends who knew about the emails, and she knew of only the first one. Taylor had never told her she couldn't tell anyone, but to Colleen the emails were even more special as a secret. Colleen frowned as she waited for the Netscape program to load. Sara stared out the window, bored. No new mail. Colleen scrolled down the Netscape homepage to scan the news headlines quickly and accidentaly hit the mailbox button. In a few seconds, all her old emails were displayed on the screen, including a long list of "Walker Hanson"s in big black print. Colleen closed the mailbox as quickly as she had opened it, but glancing over at Sara she saw her eyes widen with surprise and curiousity. She sat there silent, saying nothing. Colleen hoped she would keep her mouth shut.
