Chapter 11 of Love, Pain, and Everything In Bewteen

Colleen's alarm clock went off loudly in her ear. She looked over, yawning. 7:30 a.m. She and the guys had made plans to meet downstairs at 8:30 before going to their meeting with VH1. Colleen rolled out of bed and went into the bathroom. She took a shower and put on flared blue jeans and her Earth Angel shirt. She checked the clock: 8:00. She brushed her teeth, did her hair and some light make-up, and gathered her stuff. She went down into the lobby and saw Ike, Tay and Zac already seated at a table, with Jason nearby. Colleen walked over and sat down. "Morning, sleepy-heads!" She said cheerfully to their tired faces. Ike yawned, Tay out his head down on the table, and Zac just looked at her sleepily.
"I guess you could say we're not morning people." Ike said, holding back another yawn. "You look like one, though."
Colleen smiled. "Yeah.. I actually got to sleep in today! I'm used to getting up at 6 every morning to take care of my horse."
"Wow, you have a horse?" Zac said, waking up a little. "Cool!"
"Yeah," said Tay, looking up. "She has a 13 yr old thoroughbred named Ready Or Not who she's re-training to be a jumper."
Ike stared at his brother. "How do you know all this?" He asked.
"Well, I talk to her the a lot." Tay said, smiling at Colleen. She started laughing.
"But don't get me on the subject of horses or you'll never shut me up." She laughed. "Oh, I almost forgot!" She sat up suddenly and reached into her purse for something.
"What?" they all asked, sitting up.
"Here's the article I wrote for the paper on you guys." Colleen gave them the copies she had brought for them. "Front page." She added proudly.
Zac started to read out loud:
Everybody's heard of them. A lot of people think they're pretty cool. Some can't stand them, and some (ahem) totally LOVE them. Haven't guessed who I'm talking about yet? Here's a hint: blonde, teen-age brothers. Need another one? This'll clear up your confusion: MMMBop. That's right, folks, I am speaking of the pop group known as Hanson. And they were sweet enought to give me a private, personal, one-on-well, three interview.
"Hey that's good!" Zac said.
"Yeah, well, keep reading, but to yourself!! I've already read that thing a million times, editing, typing, etc.." Colleen said. The three brothers read in silence for awhile.
"That's a really good article, Colleen." Ike said, finally looking up.
"Yeah.." the other's chorused "Really good..." Zac looked up. Hey guys, they just put out some donuts. I'm starving!!" Zac ran over and grabbed a handful of donuts. Colleen, Ike and Tay followed. The atre quickly and undisturbed in the almost-deserted hotel lobby. They piled into the limo and walked into the VH1 building right at 10:00. They were escorted to the office right away for the first meeting. After nearly 2 and-a-half hours of tossing ideas back and forth, Hanson and the VH1 executives came up with an idea everyone left, and recording was scheduled to start the next day. Then Colleen and the guys had the rest of the day to themselves. As usual, the guys converged in Colleen's room.
"So, what do you guys want to do? Ike asked as Zac grabbed the remote and (as ususal) began flipping through the channels.
"We could go out in the limo and check things out." suggested Tay.
"Sounds good to me." Colleen said. "Zac? What do you think?"
"Yep" he said automatically.
"Don't mind him, we'll just leave him here alone, okay Zac?" Ike said teasinly.
"Yep."
Ike sighed. "I'll call Jason. Tay, get him out of his trance, will you?" Ike picked up the phone and dialed Jason's room. Tay leaned over and turned the TV off, then dragged Zac back into their room. Ike hung up the phone. "Elevator, 10 minutes." Colleen nodded and shut the door behind him. She walked around, getting things together. She opened the door adjoining to the guys' room and looked through.
"You guys ready?" she asked.
"No!!!" Zac yelled, hopping around on one foot. "I can't find my shoe!"
"Colleen?" Ike said, poking his head out of the closet. "Would you please check in your room? He probably tossed it in there." Colleen laughed and nodded. She turned around and began searching her room. Sure enough, there was the missing shoe, under her bed. She returned to the open door and threw the shoe at Zac, narrowly missing his head.
"There's your shoe." She said, laughing at his startled expression.
"Thanks." Zac replied, limping after his shoe and putting it on. "I knew it wasn't in here." He gave his room a look of disgust and walked out the door. The others followed and they all went down to the elevators, met there by Jason. They went down to the waiting limo and climbed in the back.
"So where do you want to go?" Tay asked, turning to Colleen. "We've been here a lot, so it's up to you."
"Um, any local aquariums?" Colleen asked.
"Um.. The New York Aquarium." said Ike after thinking for a few minutes.
"All right, let's go!!" Zac pushed the intercom button down and yelled to the driver. "NYC Aquarium, man!"

*Later that night*

Colleen stared at the TV screen, eyes open wide. At Zac's request, they had rented Scream from the video store in the hotel's basement and were watching it in Colleen's room. Now, up on the screen, someone was about to be killed. Although Colleen loved scary movies, she hated the actual death scenes. Turning to her right, she his her face in Tay's shoulder. I hope he doesn't think I'm being too forward. She thought nervously. Oh well, I REALLY don't want to see those people getting killed, and his shoulder is a very convieniant hiding spot for me eyes. Colleen smiled inwardly. She felt Zac pat her back comfortingly. "It's okay," he said, not taking his eyes off the screen. "It's not real."
"I know that Zac, I just don't like to see people getting killed." She turned back to Tay's shoulder as another actor was stabbed on the screen.

Taylor lay on his bed and stared at the ceiling. Zac and Colleen had gone downstairs to return the video. Ike came over and sat down by him. "So.." Ike said hesitantly.
"So....?" Tay responded.
"You like her, don't you?" Ike asked.
"Yeah... is it that obvious?"
"Only to everyone around you."
"Oh.."
"Why don't you ask her out, Tay? You really like her, that's obvious, and she likes you, too. Look at the she was acting tonight."
"I don't know... she said she just didn't like seeing people get killed."
Ike fought back the urge to laugh at his brother's blindness. "Well, I think she likes you, and I think she'd say yes."
"Really?" Tay asked, encouraged slightly.
"Yeah.. And," Ike added as an afterthought, "I know she's going home on Sunday."
