Chapter 8 of Love, Pain and Everything In Between

"You will NEVER guess what happened to me this week!!" Colleen IMed her friend Jill online. Jill was a Hanson Lover and a good friend of Colleen's, although she lived in Florida.
"What?" She IMed back.
"Taylor invited me to go watch them do an interview in Detroit, then go out to dinner with them after!!!" Colleen typed excitedly.
"OMIGOD For real!!" Jill replied.
"Yup" Colleen typed.
"OOOOO, you are sooo lucky!!"
"Yeah, I know!!"
"What do your friends think?" Jill knew about Colleen's school situation. All her friends hated Hanson with a passion, and were totally clueless to the obvious fact that Colleen loved them, dissing them constantly in front of her.
"Well, I sorta haven't told them yet. Itz not like they'd really be excited for me or anything."
"Oh well, they'll be green with jealously when Taylor comes to sweep you off your feet."
"*lol* I only wish...."

*One Week Later*

One week... Colleen thought as she did homework up in her room on Saturday night. One week untill I meet Hanson...wow Colleen was excited, of course, but also nervous, full of anxiety, and still in shock. Colleen remembered the many pep talks she'd had with Jill. Be myself, you've talked to them before, you know almost everything about them. Colleen sighed and hoped she could remember all that when it came time for the actual meeting.
Sunday Colleen's family was busy cleaning up from the robbery. As Colleen cleaned her room, she wished desperately for her boom box to blast Snowed In with. She could always listen to it on her discman, but it just wasn't the same. That night as Colleen was reading in her room, she heard a teaser on the radio station she always listened to: "This Saturday we have some very special guests coming in for an interview, listen to the Night Show from 6-11 p.m to find out more details on our guests!" Taylor said it was a Detroit station...this is a Detroit station! They're going to be interviewed on my fav station! Alright! The rest of the week passed in a blur to Colleen. She did everything mechanicaly, as if in a daze. Her friends all knew about the interview, and were constantly teasing her, saying "don't you wish you could go?" or, "So close, and yet so far away." Most had forgotten about the emails and phone calls, and none knew about her visit to the radio station, and Colleen planned to keep it that way.
On Saturday, around 4:15, Colleen's mom dropped her off in front of the radio station and said goodbye. Hanson was taking her home in their limo after dinner. Colleen walked inside and looked around. There was a few doors, and elevator, and a big desk in the middle with a bored-looking receptionist reading "Vouge". Colleen walked up to the desk and to talk to the receptionist. "I'm here for the interview" Colleen said, showing the receptionist her pass. The receptionist didn't even look up as she directed Colleen.
"Elevator to 5th floor, turn right, last door on your left" she said.
"Thanks..." Colleen followed the directions and found herself in a lounge-type room. There was a couch and a few chairs, and a table with some magazines on it. The couch faced a window where you could look into the studio. There were two doors on either side of the window. Colleen sat down on the couch and picked up a magazine, but she wasn't really reading it. Colleen had planned her outfit since Taylor had first called her, and it was nice, but not flashy or elaborate. She was wearing her favorite black Gen X Jeans, a deep blue baby tee that made her blonde hair stand out. Her hair was pulled into a high ponytail, but some strands had already fallen out and were falling in her face. Colleen pushed the strands of hair behind her ear as she glanced up at the clock. The interview was scheduled to start to 4:30, and last untill 5. It was only 4:20. Colleen sighed and began to read her magazine.

Taylor stared at the girl through the window in the door leading into the lounge. She's so pretty. He thought. It must be her. She had thick, shiny blonde hair pulled back, with strands slipping down and framing her face. He watched as she tucked the strands behind her ear, then glanced at the clock. 10 more minutes...I better go introduce myself. "Ike! Zac! She's here! C'mon, let's go out there!" He called to his brothers. They looked up and came over to the door, then all three entered the lounge at once......

Colleen sighed and flipped the pages in her "People" magazine. I am sooo sick of reading about The President and Monica Lewinsky She thought as she tossed down the magazine. She was about the pick up another one when a door across from her opened, and a tall, blonde boy wearing jeans and a tight black t-shirt walked into the room. Taylor "Colleen?" he asked.
"Hi." she replied. They stood there for a few minutes, just smiling at each other. Then Zac and Ike came in.
"Hey!!!" Zac said, running over and grabbing her hand, shaking it enthusiastically. "Nice to meet you, how're ya doin'?!?!"
Colleen laughed and tried to free her hand. "I'm doing good." She finally managed to disentangle her hand from Zac's grip and shook Ike's hand.
"So," he said. "You're the girl my li'l bro has been talking about for the past few months." Both Colleen and Taylor blushed at that comment, and at the same time, as if on cue.
"I guess I am" Colleen replied. The DJ then came into the room.
"You guys better get ready, the interview is going to start soon."
"Okay." They replied. Ike and Zac went off to help set up mikes and get their headsets ready, but Taylor stayed.
"So, where do you recommend we go for dinner?" He asked.
"Well...." Colleen stopped to think about it. "How about Italia Gardens? It's pretty close, it's casual, and they have good food."
"Sounds good." Taylor smiled. "It's a date." he walked into the studio and shut the door behind him. Colleen smiled as she listened to the radio DJ introduce Hanson. She watched the interview, how Taylor's hands moved with what he was saying, the smile and thoughtful look that came to his face as he listened to his brothers answer, they way his eyes crinkled up at the corners when he laughed. As he waved at her during a commercial, Colleen knew that she liked him... a LOT.
