What we are reading at the moment...

Mutt:

I have read "I am Spock", the 1995 autobiography of Leonard Nimoy. It is a wonderful read - Nimoy is very candid and turns out to be thoughtful and insightful about what it was like to be caught up in the power-play of Star Trek the phenomenon. I definitely recommend this to fellow Trekkies..... it wouldn't appeal to others though.

Christine:

No Data Christine has just read "Jacob's Ladder" by Donald McCaig. It is a historical fiction novel set in the US State of Virginia during the Civil War. It is a fine example of the historical novel genre, and you dont need to have an affinity with the US to become completely absorbed in the story line. A definite recommendation!

Our Recommendations:

Desert Flower Christine recommends "Desert Flower" by Waris Dirie.  The back cover says:  "Waris Dirie lives a double life - by day she is an internationally famous model and United Nations spokesperson on women's rights in Africa, at night her dreams take her home to her native Somalia and the family there she was forced to leave behind"

Firebird
Christine recommends "Firebird" by Janice Graham.  It was a real page-turner! The book has a wonderful love story, and was hard to put down. Not only was it believable and compelling, but brings tears to the eyes!

Naval Guide
Matt finds this book to be very good value for describing the naval vessels of all the navies in the world. It has the coverage of the equivalent "JANE'S Fighting Ships", but at a quarter of the price!

A favourite book of mine is Peter Mayle's "A year in Provence". See my review on Amazon.Com and a list of recommended books on Provence. It is a wonderful book that delighted my imagination and I recommend it to anyone who has dreampt of visiting or living in rural France. It's cheaper than an air ticket!
