What we are reading at the moment...
I have read "I am Spock", the 1995 autobiography of Leonard Nimoy. It is a wonderful read - Nimoy
is very candid and turns out to be thoughtful and insightful about what it was like to be caught up in
the power-play of Star Trek the phenomenon. I definitely recommend this to fellow Trekkies..... it wouldn't appeal to others though.
Christine has just read "Jacob's Ladder" by Donald McCaig. It is a historical fiction novel set in the US State of Virginia during the
Civil War. It is a fine example of the historical novel genre, and you dont need to have an affinity with the US to become completely absorbed in
the story line. A definite recommendation!
Christine recommends "Desert Flower" by Waris Dirie. The back
cover says: "Waris Dirie lives a double life - by day she is an
internationally famous model and United Nations spokesperson on women's
rights in Africa, at night her dreams take her home to her native Somalia
and the family there she was forced to leave behind"
Christine recommends "Firebird" by Janice Graham. It was a real page-turner! The book has a wonderful love story, and
was hard to put down. Not only was it believable and compelling, but brings tears to the eyes!
