~*Chapter 5*~

That night while the three brothers were in bed, Isaac whispered to his brothers. "I like Beth. What do you guys think of her?" He asked.

"I like her. But I'd like-like her if she was a few years younger, like say maybe...eleven." Zac said.

"You would," Ike said. "I love her big brown eyes, they go so well with her blonde hair.

"Ike. You are WAY too obsessed with girls!" Taylor said. "But I think she's pretty cool. Can you guys keep a secret?"

"Duh, you always tell us all your secrets." Ike said.

"Well this one's REALLY important."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever, just spit it out!"

"Okay, well, ya see, the thing is…IlikeAlyssa." Taylor bumbled.

"What the hell are you rubbishing about?" Zac asked.

"RUBBISHING!!!!" Ike exclaimed. "Is that like another one of your funky phrases?"

"I happen to like that word very much thank you!" Zac said in a mock upper class accent.

"HELLO! Guys, do you want to hear what I have to say, or not?" Taylor said exasperated. He could care less what kind of weird word Zac learned today.

"Sorry, Tay, go ahead." Ike said.

"Thank you. Well see I kinda sorta maybe just a little bit like Alyssa." He was blushing furiously now. It was a good thing the lights were off; otherwise his brothers would be making fun of him again.

"Well that's great Tay! Why are you so embarrassed about that?" Ike asked.

"Because she's my best friend after you two! That's why! Do you think I should ask her out Ike? I don't want to jeopardize our friendship. We've been best friends for thirteen years! I don't want to lose that! What if she says no? What if we went out and then broke up? What would happen then? Would we still be friends? Or would I lose someone that means more to me than almost anything?" Taylor asked.

"Tay! Chill! I'm almost positive that you guys are made for each other! Wait! I have an idea! Okay! Tomorrow, you go out somewhere, ohhhhhhh, a double plan, aha! Okay, you go over to Beth's house, and ask her if she likes me, and Zac and I'll stay here and play truth or dare with Alyssa, and we can ask her if she likes you! I am such a genius!" Ike exclaimed.

"Great idea, Mr. Genius!" Tay said. "Let's go to bed, now."

~~~~~~~~The Next Day~~~~~~~~
Ike woke up at the crack of dawn the next morning. Usually he liked to sleep in, and get as much sleep as he possibly could, but he couldn't stop thinking of Beth. He really liked her. He loved the way her just-longer-than-shoulder-length blonde hair hung around her shoulders, and the way he could look into her deep brown eyes. He knew he HAD to ask her out. I mean there were the occasional girls he went out with. He thought he'd loved some of them, but he really didn't know what love was. He knew he wasn't in love with Beth, he'd known her less than twenty-four hours, how could he! He definitely decided to spend as much time as possible with her today. He hoped by the end of the day that they'd be going out. He remembered what him and Zac would have to ask Alyssa during truth or dare. He wondered what she'd say. For Taylor's sake, he hoped she'd say yes, but he didn't want to see Tay hurt if she said no, or would ever dump him. He didn't want things to change if Taylor and Alyssa went out. He remembered all the wonderful times he, Alyssa, Taylor, and Zac, and all their other friends back in Tulsa had. All their exciting truth or dare games, especially the one where Taylor and Alyssa were dared to moon some people driving by on the road, late at night, and the time that Zac dared Taylor to run around outside in his boxers, in the middle of winter. Those were some great times Ike didn't ever want to forget, and he definitely didn't want to stop the fun there. He loved Alyssa, and he didn't want to see her drift away from their family if her and Taylor ever broke up. He decided to go for it anyway, despite what second thoughts he was having inside. He knew this was what Taylor wanted, and he wanted his brother, and best friend to be happy.
"Hey, there! Up a little early aren't we?" Walker asked as he walked into the kitchen at 8:00. "You usually aren't awake for another two hours!
"Yeah, I know…" Ike trailed off. "I was just thinking."
"A girl, huh?" Walker asked.
"How did you know?" Ike asked.
Walker looked at his son witheringly. "Ike. All you think about is girls! So who is it now?"
"Well, uh, ya know that girl, Beth that came over yesterday?"
"Aaahhhh. I see. You going to ask her out?"
"Taylor's going over to her house today, to see if she likes me."
"I see. Well the best of luck to you! Oh, and Ike, I highly recommend that you get some sleep before tomorrow, because you have to be at the Dust Brothers' house at 5:30 tomorrow morning! Have fun!" Well, maybe Beth can wait a few hours, while I get some sleep. He trudged up the stairs, and went back to bed until 11. He woke up with Taylor hovering over him; his hair dripping wet onto Isaac's covers.
"AAHHHH! What the hell, Taylor! What's your problem!"
"Sheesh! Hurry up! Get up! Get dressed!" Taylor said anxiously.
"Tay! Stop spazzing on me!"
"Come one I want to know if Alyssa likes me or not!" Taylor whispered.
"Oh, yeah!" I forgot! Beth!" Ike said leaping out of bed, practically tripping and falling on Zac's Power Rangers that he hadn't cleaned up from the night before.
"Jeez! Ike, get up for the sake of dear old Beth! Don't even think about your precious little brother!" Tay said sweetly.
"Don't get so high on yourself." Ike said. "Where's Zac?"
"Downstairs watching cartoons with Jessie, Avie, Mackie, and Alyssa."
"Well, go join them, I'm going to take a shower I'll be ready to start 'the plan' in a half an hour."
"Alrighty then!" Taylor replied, doing his best impression of Jim Carrey, which wasn't 99/100 times as good as Zac's. Isaac jumped into and out of the shower in a hurry, and was brushing his hair when Taylor walked in exactly a half an hour later.
"Ike! You should've seen 'Freakazoid,' it was the funniest episode I've ever seen!"
"Tay, I could care less. Get that gay grin off your face!" Ike interrupted. "Let's put the plan into action!" Taylor left the house quietly, walking next door. He knocked on the door nervous about what she would say. Beth answered the door a few moments later.
"Hi, Taylor! How ya doing?" Beth asked.
"Fine. How are you?"
"Okay. Do you want to come in?"
"Sure," Tay replied hoping he could make this quick. They sat down in the living room, and the house was unusually quiet.
"Nobody's home right now, they all went to Jake's soccer game." Beth explained.
"I see. Beth, there's something that I have to ask you."
"Shoot," she said.
"Well, I was wondering, um, if you liked Ike?" he asked cautiously.
"Yeah, I do." She admitted. "You're not going to tell him are you?" she asked looking worried.
"Why don't you want him to know?" Taylor asked.
"Because, what if he doesn't like me?"
"He does, believe me! He said that if you say that you like him, then he's going to ask you out today." Tay explained.
"I see. I suppose you can tell him, then, because I really like him." Beth said.
"Well, I'd better get going. Ike and Zac are playing truth or dare with Alyssa, to find out if she likes me."
"You guys are REALLY weird. You like Alyssa?"
"Yeah, it's like we've been friends for thirteen years, and now I'm realizing that I like her as more than a friend."
"Wow. Well, the best of luck to you, Tay." Beth said.
MEANWHILE….. (hehe, Caz)
"Truth or dare?" Isaac asked Alyssa.
"Hmmm…How about truth." She answered.
"Okay, hold on let me think of one…I know! Do you like Taylor? Like as more than a friend?"
"You guys…" Alyssa trailed off, embarrassed.
"Come on, you have to answer the question!" Zac exclaimed.
"Okay, okay, I do, but don't you dare say one word to him!"
"Why not?" Ike asked.
"Because if he found out that I liked him, and he didn't like me, then our friendship would be over, and I care about him more than anything!"
"Alyssa, what would you say if we knew, for a fact that Taylor likes you?"
"That depends. Does he?"
"Well, yeah, he put us up to asking you this question." Zac said embarrassed.
"Well, tell him, yes I like him, and he should ask me out. But don't tell him I said that!" Alyssa warned.
"Okay, we won't. I promise." Ike said
