THOMPSON FAMILY GENEALOGY





AMOS THOMPSON



Amos THOMPSON lived in Virginia. Although we had hoped to be able to trace him back to a American patriot, we found that he fought on the side of England in the War of Independence. He died at the age of only 19 after marrying Martha "Patty" Strother and fathering one son, Little Berry THOMPSON who was born in 1780 just one year before Amos THOMPSON was killed.



LITTLE BERRY THOMPSON



Little Berry THOMPSON was born in 1780, and died in 1839. He married UNKNOWN and had one child: Zelphy THOMPSON.



ZELPHY THOMPSON



Zelphy THOMPSON was born in 1800. She married John FENNER, and had one child:
Isaiah FENNER b. 1821. She then married David LEATHERMAN. Children by David LEATHERMAN were:

9. Richard Samuel THOMPSON I b. 1821 in Wilkinson County, Mississippi, died March 1849 in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana. He married [1] A. H. KELSEY, and [2] Lucy Ellen MOSELY on October 8, 1846 in Wilkinson County, Mississippi.



BIDDY THOMPSON





Biddy THOMPSON was born in 1805 and died in 1850. She married Samuel PICKENS. It is not known is they had any children. Then she married Random GRAHAM who died in 1870. Their children were:

1. Milford GRAHAM.

2. James A. GRAHAM.

3. Melissa GRAHAM.

4. Florence GRAHAM.



NANCY THOMPSON





Nancy THOMPSON was born in 1806 and died in 1853. She married Benjamin MORRIS, and David K. WALL.



SARAH THOMPSON





Sarah THOMPSON was born in 1807 and died in 1850. She married Charles WOOD and had four children:

1. Harriett WOOD

2. Martha WOOD

3. Henry WOOD

4. John WOOD



MARTHA THOMPSON





Martha THOMPSON was born in 1809 and died in 1837. She was married to [1]James B. WILES and had two children:

1. Littleberry James WILES

CHARITY THOMPSON





Charity THOMPSON was born in 1811 and died in 1837. She married [1}Abner SMITH and had three children:

3. Adelaide A. SMITH who married James A. HOWARD.

Delila THOMPSON was born in 1812 and died in 1848. She married Edward DUFF and had eight children:

1. John E. DUFF who was born in 1830 and died in 1856. He was married three times: [1} Elizabeth RYAN, [2] Mary Elizabeth WHITTINGTON, and [3] Mary A. Wilson.

2. Martha Jane DUFF was born in 1831, and died in 1867. She married [1] Richard Hanoe SWIGERT, [2] Thomas T. STROUD, [3] Alexander BANKS.

3. James Thomas DUFF born in 1835 aqnd died in 1865. He married Amelia Ann RYAN.

4. Sarah Elen DUFF who was born in 1837 and died in 1912. She married three times: [1] Christopher Columbus WHITTINGTON, [2] J. S. PATTON, [3] Thomas Franklin BULLOCK.

5. Mary Hester DUFF born in 1843 and died in 1865. She married Aaron RYAN.

7. William Hiram DUFF born in 1844, died in 1913. He married twice: [1] Rose Anna PAILLET, [2] Catherine PAILLET.

8. Littleberry DUFF, Jr. was born in 1847 and died in 1921. He married Mary Luticia ALLBRITTON.

Amos Berry THOMPSON was born in 1815, died in 1891, and married Isabelle Jane GAYLE. They had the following children:

1. Alice Elizabeth THOMPSON b. 1844, d. 1914, and married John C. LOMBARD.

2. Albert Gayle THOMPSON b. 1846, died 1929, and married Katie-Belle GASTRELL. They had four children:

Richard Samuel THOMPSON I was born in 1821 in Wilkenson County, MS., and d. March 1849. He married [1] A. H. KELSEY, and [2] Lucy Ellen MOSLY. Richard Samuel THOMPSON I was the child of Little Berry THOMPSON, and Patience ?. Richard and Lucy THOMPSON had one child: Little Benonie THOMPSON



LITTLE BENONIE THOMPSON





Little Benonie THOMPSON was born in Mississippi on October 11, 1848, and died in Rusk County, TX on January 10, 1922. He was married to two different Martha's. First to Martha L. PRYOR and second to Martha Jane BRYAN. He had the following children with Martha PRYOR:

1. William Richard THOMPSON, 2. Louis Cemore THOMPSON, and a 3. Baby girl that died with her.



WILLIAM RICHARD THOMPSON





William Richard THOMPSON was born in Rusk County, TX on September 30, 1869. He died in Asher, OK on January 26, 1947. He married twice: [1] Maudie Mae FRANTZ, and [2] >b?Lucinda Cynthia SUTTON. He had the following children with Lucinda Cynthia SUTTON:

Louis Cemore THOMPSON was born on August 11, 1871 in Rusk Co., TX., and d. October 3, 1946 in Mangum, Greer Co., OK. He m. Lillian Josie "Lilliie" ODOM on November 2, 1891. They had seven children:

1. Annie Lois THOMPSON b. 1893, d. 1973, m. Charles Allen ROGERS. They had 9 children: Hazel Eureka ROGERS, Nobel Lloyd ROGERS, Edna Earle ROGERS, Charles Allen ROGERS, Jr., Eldon Burk ROGERS, June Lois ROGERS, Jewel Joyce ROGERS, Garnet Dean ROGERS, Helen Delores ROGERS, and Raymond Louis ROGERS.

LUCY ELLEN MOSELY





Lucy Ellen MOSELY first married Richard Samuel THOMPSON I who died in 1849. She then married Thomas W. RAWLINGS on July 24, 1849 in Natchez, Adams County, MS. They had two children: [1] Louis RAWLINGS, and [2] Richard Thomas "Dick" RAWLINGS. She then married J. O. WOOD on October 21, 1825 in Rusk Co., TX. Richard Thomas "Dick" RAWLINGS m. Nancy J. IRWIN and had 3 children: Fannie E. RAWLINGS, Charles Osborne RAWLINGS, and William RAWLINGS.

Louis Cemore THOMPSON also married Ethel Daniel Locklear MAYRHOFEN. No known children.



LITTLE BENONIE THOMPSON





Little Benonie THOMPSON often called either Ben or L. B. was born in Mississippi on October 11, 1848, and died in Rusk County, TX on January 10, 1922. He is buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Hwy 323 in rural Rusk County. He married Martha Jane BRYAN on July 23, 1874 in Rusk Co., TX. Martha Jane BRYAN was the daughter of John Wesley BRYAN and Mary Jane McCARTY. She was born on July 5, 1854 in Leake County, MS> Little Benonie THOMPSON, and Martha Jane BRYAN had the following children:

1. Beall THOMPSON b. June 13, 1875 in Rusk Co., TX. He married Sallie Nannie MAXWELL.

2. Wesley Benonie THOMPSON b. November 4, 1878 in Rusk Co., TX. He m. .

3. Lucy Elizabeth THOMPSON b. February 5, 1880 in Rusk Co., TX. She died January 4, 1919. She married Peyton E. YORK on November 2, 1896 in Rusk Co., TX. She is buried in Brinkman Cemtery, Greer County, OK.

4. George Edward THOMPSON b. December 1, 1881 in Rusk Co., TX, and d. Dec. 4, 1952. He married {1} Lillie SMITH, [2] Armandy Mahaly GILL, [3] Ida Leora FREEMAN.

5. James "Jim" Franklin THOMPSON b. September 21, 1884 in Overton, Rusk County, TX, and d. Oct. 1, 1952 in Healdton, Carter, Do., OK. He married Mary Flora LINDSEY.

6. Dora THOMPSON b. June 5, 1885 in Rusk Co., TX, and d. January 27, 1948 in Rusk Co., TX. She married Carl Bismark GRAMLING on JJanuary 24, 1918.

7. Burtha Martha THOMPSON b. August 10, 1887, Rusk Co., TX., and d. June 11, 1888 in Rusk Co., TX.



BEALL THOMPSON





Beall THOMPSON was born on June 13, 1875 in Rusk County, TX. He died on April 18, 1911 in Willow, OK. He married Sallie Nannie MAXWELL on October 19, 1898. They had 9 children:

1. Ora Bell THOMPSON b. 1899, m. Lonnie Leon BARBER, and had four children: Lonnie Vernon BARBER, Roy Burton BARBER, Pearl BARBER, and Arden Leon BARBER.

3. Mary Octavia THOMPSON b. 1901, d. 1971, m. William Clifford BARBER, Sr., and had six children: Helen Rivers BARBER, Ruby Viola BARBER, William Clifford "Buddy" BARBER, Ollie Bell BARBER, Virgil LeRoy BARBER, and Mary Jewel BARBER.

4. Jennie Lee THOMPSON b. 1903, d. 1933, m. Walker H. STEWART, and had two children: Johnny Eugene STEWART, and Emma Elizabeth "Betty" STEWART.

5. Grant THOMPSON, Sr. b. 1904, d. 1986, m. Alma Clyette WISE, and had 6 children: Gladys Lerline THOMPSON, Henry Beall THOMPSON, Kathleen THOMPSON, Mary Lee THOMPSON, Billie Jean THOMPSON, and Grant THOMPSON, Jr..

6. James Benonie THOMPSON b. 1906, d. 1977, m. Opal Lee DICKERSON, and had one child: Dorothy Nell THOMPSON.

7. Erastus Arthur THOMPSON B. 1908, d. 1958, m. Ruth Arementia GOSS, and had five children: A. J. THOMPSON, Joe Beall THOMPSON, Marlin Donald THOMPSON, Howard Adolph THOMPSON, and Harvey Earl THOMPSON.

Wesley Benonie THOMPSON was born November 4, 1878 in Rusk Co., TX. He died August 31, 1921 in Rusk Co.,TX. He married Maude Eugenia MATHIS, and had 8 children: 1. Wilford Lee THOMPSON who married Eula Drucilla STEWART, and had 4 children: Dorothy Orea THOMPSON m. Harvey Lee McBRIDE and had one child: Diane Lynn McBRIDE; Wilma Lee THOMPSON, Geneva Myrl THOMPSON, and Patsy Jean THOMPSON.

Lucy Elizabeth THOMPSON was born February 5, 1880 in Henderson, Rusk Co., TX., and d. January 4, 1919 in Brinkman, Greer County, OK. She married Peyton Esridge YORK on November 2, 1896 in Rusk County, TX. They had 11 children as follows:

~1. Allen Richard YORK b. August 18, 1898 in Henderson, Rusk Co., TX. He went off to the war during WWI and never returned. His parents were never told anything about him dying. It caused a lot of unnecessary grief.

~2. Verna Magdeline YORK b. August 12, 1899 inn Overton TX. She married Harry WEBB, and had three children: Weva WEBB, Lester WEBB, and Lee WEBB.

~3. Essie Vera YORK born October 7, 1900, and married [1] Ray GOOD, Bob REID, and Jim GLAHN.

~4. Marvin Bryan YORK b. December 19, 1902 in Overton, Rusk Co., TX. He died on August 19, 1948 in Amarillo, Potter County, TX. He married [1] Grace Onita BUFKIN, and had four children: 1. Mary Lucille YORK, 2. Jimmie Lewis YORK was born and died on Feb. 21, 1928. 3. James Louis YORK born Feb 7. 1909, and married Joanne [Private], and they had three childreh: Paula Denise YORK, James Glen YORK, and Kimberly Ann YORK. 4. Burl Bufkin YORK.

~5. Clarence Edward "Jack" YORK b. July 16, 1905. He died in 1974 in Victoria, Victoria County, TX. He m. Jewel WEAVER and Lennie ROBERTS No children were born to either union.

~6. Earl Winston "Eddie" YORK b. January 26, 1907, and is deceased. He married three times 1. Ernestine LEE, 2] Grace O'nita BUFKIN YORK, and 3. Maureen ROBERTSON. No children were born to either union.

7. Clifton Esridge "Cliff" YORK b. November 11, 1909, and is deceased. He married Ellen ??, and they had one son Clifton Moruse YORK who married Faye [Private], and they had three children: 1] Cheri, Thomas, and Bradford YORK.

8. Mable Elizabethh YORK b. March 31, 1911 in Mangum, Greer County, OK. She died on June 10, 1900 in Amarillo, Potter County, TX. On October 17, 1926, she married Marshall Jay CAMPBELL in Amarillo, Potter County, TX. They had one child: Marsena Grace CAMPBELL.

9. Alton Britton "A. B." YORK b. September 16, 1913 in Mangum, Greer County, OK. He died in Amarillo, TX on November 5, 1995. On September 19, 1938 he married Evelyn C. COMPTON in Clovis, NM. Evelyn COMPTON YORK had two small children when she married "A. B.", Kathleen, and Jack. A. B. YORK raised them as his own and loved them very much. A. B. and Evelyn had three children: 1] Marshall Ray YORK, 2] Tommy YORK, and 3] Jeanette YORK.

10. Raymond Herbert "Hub" YORK b. October 17, 1915 in Mangum, Greer County, OK. He died in Amarillo, Potter County, TX on June 20, 1992. He married Ila Berchie SMITH on March 3, 1927 in Amarillo, TX. They had nine children: 1] Raymond Edward YORK b. June 8, 1938, d. abt 1985. 2] James Wallace YORK b. March 5, 1940, d. May 4, 1940. 3] Phyllis Elaine YORK 4] Lucy Ilene "Cindy" YORK b. Nov. 21, 1942, d. Jan. 26, 1972. 5] Ila June YORK 6] Nila Faye YORK 7] Perry Dene YORK 8] Terry Gene YORK 9] Alton Bruce YORK

~11. Bonnie Hyacinth YORK [Private] Married Floyd SCOTT No issue. Married Clarence Raymond BARKER. They had one daughter Reba Sue BARKER.



GEORGE EDWARD THOMPSON





George Edward THOMPSON was born Dec. 1, 1881 in Rusk County, TX. He died on Dec. 5, 1952 in Rusk County, TX. He married three times. 1] Lillie SMITH, 2] Armandy Mahaly GILL, and 3] Ida Leora FREEMAN.



The only child born to George Edward THOMPSON and Lillie SMITH was Erma THOMPSON who married W. R. MIRKLE.



The children by George Edward THOMPSON and Armandy Mahaly GILL were:

1. Edward Buck THOMPSON b. in 1911, and d. 1950.

2. Jim Douglas THOMPSON b. 1913. He married 1] Helen COCHRAN, and 2] Lilliam DICKERSON. Doug THOMPSON and wife Helen COCHRAN had one daughter Jimmie L. THOMPSON.



George Edward THOMPSON and third wife Ida Leora FREEMAN had eleven children:

DORA THOMPSON





Dora THOMPSON was born June 5, 1885 in Rusk County, TX. She died January 27, 1948 in Rusk County, TX. She married Carl Bismark GRAMLING on January 24, 1918. They had two children:

BURTHA MARTHA THOMPSON





Burtha Martha THOMPSON was born August 10, 1887 in Rusk County, TX. She died June 11, 1888 in Rusk County, TX.
