God Gives Free Gift To Everyone

by John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

What is this free gift?  Salvation

What is Salvation

Salvation is often referred to as being "Born Again" or "Saved."  You are probably wondering exactly what you need to be saved from.   The Bible says that when Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the garden of Eden they allowed a sinful nature to take root in all mankind.  Their sin was not what they did physically by eating the fruit.  The sin they were guilty of was rejecting God as their Lord and obeying another god, satan.  (he doesn't deserve a capital s)

God stepped in and made temporary provision by shedding blood to provide a covering for the nakedness of their bodies and forgiveness for their sinful hearts.  God says, "without shedding of blood there is no remission of sin."  This was a temporary cover-up that could never fix the problem completely.  By nature, we are corrupt in our souls.

Jesus is the permanent answer to our sinful ways.  He took the place of Adam and overcame death, hell and the grave for all mankind.  He died so that we might have eternal life.  Christ Jesus took the sin, sickness and bondage that has plagued mankind since the first Adam, even though he never actually sinned himself.  God accepted Jesus' sacrifice and raised him from the dead.  When we accept Christ as our savior, his shed blood becomes the one-time covering that makes us acceptable to God.  We don't have to keep offering sacrifices every time we do something wrong.  Jesus is the only way to attain salvation and eternal life.

God's word tells us that "if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.    This is a gift from your heavenly Father paid for by the blood of Jesus.  There is nothing you can do to make yourself acceptable to God.  Salvation is found only by believing in Jesus.  Even the faith to believe is a gift from God.

Receiving salvation does not mean that you become perfect, but that you are forgiven.  There is a definite inward change in your life that produces an outward manifestation.  This is God's grace working in you.  You become a child of God and begin a journey that will end in heaven.

The only way you can receive salvation is through Jesus Christ.  God tells us in his word  that "God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."

The act of becoming born again is not hard nor scary, right now if you believe Jesus died to set you completely free, you are halfway there.

In His word, God makes the process of salvation very simple to understand.  Romans 10:9-10 tells us,  "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord", and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are made righteous, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."

God wants you to know that he loves you and desires to have a relationship with you as his son or daughter.

If you are thinking about accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior get ready for the greatest adventure of your life.  If you believe, you can become born again now by praying this prayer:

Heavenly Father,  I choose to receive the free gift of salvation that you have given me through Jesus.  I choose to release my past, my hurts, my fears, my mistakes, my disappointments; my entire life, Lord, to you.  Right now, Father, I believe that Jesus died for me, to set me free.  Jesus, come into my heart, make me that new creature in you.  I confess with my mouth and believe with my whole heart, that Jesus is Lord of my life.  Father I ask that you continually help me and guide me, as I seek after you.  Help me Father to understand your word and to receive all that you have for me.  In Jesus name I pray.  Amen

Now what?

Tell someone that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior.  If you would like to tell me I would be honored to receive an email from from you to this effect.

Do you have a Bible?  If not, let me know and I will mail you one. Be sure to include your name and address in your email.  Read the Bible everyday, especially the New Testament and start with the book of John.  It will tell you about your salvation and how much Jesus loves you.  The Bible is the inspired word of God.  It is alive with hope and promise for your life and it is comes from the heart of your loving heavenly Father.

Find a small church or fellowship that believes in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the only way to achieve salvation.   Don't just go in and warm a pew.  Get involved.  Make new friends and let your life revolve around God and his children.

Talk to God daily and remember: You can't keep yourself saved.  It is still all up to God.  Be quick to ask him for forgiveness when you sin and have faith that he is able to do what he says he will do in the Bible.
