As Kallee walked into the house next door, she noticed that it smelled musty and closed up. She walked into the living room and opened all of the windows and made her way into the kitchen where she did the same. She went to the second floor which consisted of three bedrooms, a bathroom and the hallway and opened all of the windows on that floor. Then Kallee climbed the next set of stairs and walked around the huge room opening all of the windows up there. This floor was like an attic, but it could be a bedroom. It even had a little bathroom! Kallee wished she had her own bathroom, and remembered how her dad had promised to build her one.
Kallee's dad was the nicest man that Kallee ever knew. He treated her like a princess and always gave her everything she wanted. He was a pilot for Coastal Airlines and was coming home from a flight to England when the engines burst into flames. All that Kallee remembers is that 3 months ago, her mother woke her up in the middle of the night to tell her that her dad had just crashed in the ocean and he had died. Kallee's heart broke and she cried herself to sleep for the next month.
As she sat thinking about it, she noticed that her watch now read 3:30 PM and she heard a car pull into the driveway followed by a van parking out front. She got up and walked over to the window and saw her mom's car and ran down the two flights of stairs to the front door. She opened the door and walked out to her mom and said hi and that she had opened all of the windows cause it smelled musty.
"Oh, okay, thanks," replied Cheryl.
"So, who are they?," asked Kallee as she watched a man and a woman get out of the van, followed by a blonde haired little boy, about 3 years old and two little girls each blonde also. The first little girl looked about 8 or 9 years old and the other one was 5 or 6.
"That's the Hanson's,” answered Kallee's mom.
"Wait! Are they related to....." started Kallee.
"Yes," said her mom, cutting her off. "That's their mom and dad and their little sisters..."
"Jessie, Avie and their brother Mackie, right?" cut in Kallee.
"Yes," Cheryl said.
Just then, the family of 5 walked up to Kallee and her mom.
Kallee asked, "Where are Isaac, Taylor and Zac?"
Diana gave Walker a "look" and replied, "They stayed back in Tulsa to practice because they have a gig in a few days."
"Let's go inside," suggested Cheryl, sensing the uneasiness of the Hanson's.
"Sounds good to us," said Walker who was carrying Mackie and holding Avie’s hand.
Cheryl opened the door and motioned for the Hanson’s to go in. Kallee followed them and Cheryl came in last. The Hanson’s started looking around the house with Kallee’s mom, while Kallee watched Jessie, Avie and Mack.
"Hi!" shouted Avie.
"Hi, Avery," replied Kallee.
"Hey, how do you know my name?" asked Avery looking very confused.
"Well, I know who your big brothers are and when I go on the internet, it lists your name and Jessie’s name and Mackie’s name as their other siblings." answered Kallee.
"Oh," said Avie trying to figure out what a sibling was.
Just then, Cheryl, Diana, and Walker walked back into the living room.
"Hey mom!" shouted Kallee, "Can I take Avery, Jessie and Mackenzie over to our house to show them their names on some Hanson web sites on the internet?"
"It’s up to Diana and Walker," answered Cheryl looking at the Hanson’s.
"That sounds good. We wanted to look around a little more, so thanks," said Diana, "I guess, we’ll come over to get them in about 10 minutes?"
"Okay!" said Kallee.
Kallee picked Mackie up and grabbed Avie’s hand and told Jessie to follow her and they made their way over to her house. They climbed the stairs and Kallee sat down on her desk chair and pulled her bean bag chair over for Jessica and Avery and she held Mackie on her lap.
"Hey! That’s Tay, Zac and Ike," said Jessie pointing to the 3 big posters of Hanson on Kallee’s wall.
"Yeah, I love their music!" replied Kallee.
"Let’s look for your names on the computer," Kallee said trying to get off the subject, for fear that they might tell their brothers that the maybe-future-neighbor named Kallee was obsessed with them.
She went into Hanson On-Line again and looked under "The Hanson FAQ File". She scrolled down and found Jessie, Avie and Mackie’s names. They squealed with delight as they saw their own names on the internet.
"We’re famous!" shouted Jessie excitedly.
"Yeah, you are! A lot of people that like your brothers band, know your names!" replied Kallee.
They surfed around a little longer finding their names on a ton of other web sites. After about 15 minutes of doing this, Walker Hanson appeared in Kallee’s doorway.
"Hey, sounds like a party!" said Walker.
"Hey Daddy! We’re famous!", yelled Avie happily.
"That’s nice, but we have to go soon, so why don’t we all go downstairs? Okay?" suggested Walker.
Walker started his way out the door and down the stairs followed by Jessie, Avie, Mackie and Kallee, in that order. As they reached the bottom of the stairs, Walker picked Avie and Mackie up and sat them on the couch. He then put Jessie on the couch and sat next to her.
"We have something to discuss with you guys," started Diana, "How would you feel if we moved away from Tulsa and lived here in New Jersey?"
"I guess it’s okay," said Jessie.
"Yes, I give you permission," replied Avie, acting as if it all depended on her answer.
Mackie just sort of sat there and stared at his dad.
"I guess that makes it almost unanimous," said Cheryl, "You can use my phone to call your other sons and ask them if you want to."
"No, that’s okay. We're moving here because of their music, so we already discussed it with them before we left. Thanks anyway," said Diana.
"We have to go honey," Walker said to Diana, "The plane is leaving for Tulsa in 2 hours and we still have to drive to the airport and be there an hour early."
"You're right, we should get going now. I’ll call you as soon as we get home Cheryl. We’ll deal with everything this week, so we can move in ASAP, okay?" said Diana.
"Sounds great, you can be in the house within the next 2 or 3 weeks," replied Kallee’s mom, "Oh, I forgot! I always take my clients out to dinner after they agree to buy a house, but you have to leave."
Well, it’s okay, we’d rather do that when the boys are here anyway," said Walker.
"Okay, come on kids, let’s get in the van! Hey, thanks for watching the kids Kallee, you’re great with them! Do think when we move here that you could babysit sometimes?" asked Walker.
"Sure! That sounds good!," answered Kallee.
The Hanson brood made their way out of the Johnson’s house and into their van. They all waved goodbye and Kallee and her mom watched the van drive away.
