Chapter Three

Three weeks later, Kallee was awaiting the arrival of the Hansons. For the past few weeks, she cleaned her room and did a major redecorating job in it. She took all traces of her Hanson obsession out of sight and put them in her closet. Her walls were now visible and Kallee was proud of a job well done. She didn’t want them to think that she was obsessed and not give her a chance. The Hansons were supposed to arrive the next day and Kallee was overjoyed. She looked at her “brand new” room for the last time that night before climbing into bed and turning the light out.

The next morning, Cheryl was gently shaking Kallee’s shoulder trying to wake her up.

“Kallee, you have to get up. It’s 9:30 AM and you told me to wake you up at 9:00,” said Kallee’s mom.

“All right, I’m gettin’ up,” replied Kallee.

Kallee rolled over and stood up as her mom walked out the door and down the stairs. She walked into the bathroom and got in the shower. About 15 minutes later, Kallee came out of the bathroom with her hair combed, her teeth brushed and her towel still wrapped around her. She made her way into her bedroom and closed and locked the door. After wondering what to wear, Kallee picked out a pair of dark blue GAP wide leg jeans (it was a little chilly) and a fitted white GAP t-shirt that had the brand name GAP printed on the front in dark blue. She looked in the mirror and combed her hair again and put on some cover up and clear mascara and a little bit of blush and eye shadow. It was all topped off with an application of strawberry-flavored Body Shop lip gloss. Kallee was slightly impressed with how good she looked. She wanted to make a great impression on them!

“Kallee, come down here and eat breakfast before the Hansons get here,” called her mother from the kitchen.

“I’m coming mom,” Kallee called right back.

It was now 10:30 AM and the Hansons would be arriving around noon. The moving van wouldn’t arrive until Wednesday and it was only Sunday! Kallee was ecstatic because the Hansons were going to have to sleep at her house until their furniture came. Kallee’s mother had volunteered and Kallee was glad she did.

Kallee came downstairs and ate the breakfast her mom had made. After eating her 3 pancakes and 2 links of sausage, she put her plate in the sink and went into the den to watch some t.v. before the Hansons showed up. As she sat on the couch, she turned on the t.v. and put on MTV. It was a rerun of the Jenny McCarthy show.

“Oh my gosh!” exclaimed Kallee.

“What?” she heard her mother ask from the kitchen.

“It’s the Jenny McCarthy show when Hanson appeared on it!” yelled a very happy Kallee.

“Oh,” said Cheryl, not seeming too excited.

Kallee sat and watched the show until it was over at 11:30 AM. She had a huge smile plastered on her face ever since the beginning of the show where Taylor tried to talk and his voice was all raspy and cracking. Her mother came in and told her that the Hanson’s van had just pulled into the driveway and that they were early. Kallee’s heart sank. She was terrified of actually meeting HANSON! She thought about how they would probably think she was ugly or something.

The doorbell rang and Cheryl moved to the front door and motioned for Kallee to come stand next to her. Just as Kallee started making her way to the door, Cheryl opened the door to see Diana’s face staring back at her.

“Hi,” said Diana looking exhausted, “Can we come in?”

“Of course, where’s Walker?” asked Cheryl.

“He and the boys are getting our luggage out of the van, but they’ll be in soon,” answered Diana.

“Hi Kallee, I didn’t see you there,” said Diana.

“Hi, Mrs. Hanson,” replied Kallee.

Diana walked in, followed by Avery, Jessie and Mackie each carrying a small suitcase and a sleeping bag.

“Hi, Kallee!!!” screamed Jessie, Avie and Mackie at the same time as they all jumped on her and pushed her onto the couch in the living room.

“Hi, right back at ya!” said Kallee while holding Mackie on her lap and having her arms around Jessie and Avery who were sitting on either side of her.

They sat there for a few minutes while they told Kallee all about their exciting trip to New Jersey. Kallee was listening to Avie’s impression of Walker yelling at all of them on the way over because they were so loud. Just then, Walker came through the front door and said that Avie needed to speak a little lower. After he passed by, Kallee saw Isaac Hanson walk through her front door! He was followed by Zachary and then Taylor! She almost dropped Mackie on the floor because she was staring at them so hard.
