Mad Lib Adventure
1. Today we are going to write a paragraph which contains at least five sentences. First you must choose a topic. You may write a help-wanted ad, a diary entry, a how-to description, a recipe, a commentary on some current event, or a paragraph describing typical traditions pertaining to a holiday such as Easter, spring break, Independence Day, the first day of school, the last day of school, etc. If you would rather choose a topic not listed, please approve it through me first.
2. Once you have finished writing your paragraph, please edit it, checking for complete sentences, correct spelling, and proper usage. When you think it is ready, conference with me, and I will give it a final check.
3. Rewrite one of your sentences so that it begins with an adverb. You should modify at least one noun with an adjective. Make sure your paragraph includes at least one prepositional phrase and one conjunction. You may have to do some rewriting to ensure your paragraph includes all of these elements.
4. Now in this paragraph, underline at least two nouns, two verbs, two adjectives, one adverb, one preposition, and one conjunction.
5. When we go to the computer lab on Thursday, we will submit this paragraph to Dave deVitry's MabWeb site. I will give you more detailed instructions concerning how to submit at a later time.
