My English II students are making online
portfolios so they can publish their
best works. In addition to displaying
work they are most proud of, they plan
to publish book reviews--they hope other
students seeking a good read will find
their reviews
useful.
Please bear with us as my students learn
proofreading
skills. As David Augsnurger proclaimed,
"Since nothing we intend is ever
faultless, and nothing we attempt ever
without error, and nothing we achieve
without some measure of finitude and
fallibility we call humanness, we are
saved by forgiveness." Too, Piet Hein
reminds us,
"The road to wisdom? Well, it's plain
and simple to express: Err and err again
but less and less and less."
Or, finally, as Dorothy Sprenkel, an
NCTE-Talk English teacher, told me,
"Errors in this website indicate the
presence of real
people."
