Chapter 15-Wise Words From Such A Young Soul

Scarlet and Zac walked around the almost empty lobby on the ground floor. The only people who seemed to be there besides them were either security guards, bellhops or other people who worked at the hotel and were unlucky enough to be on the late shift.

“So, how come you couldn’t sleep?” Scarlet asked Zac as they sat down in front of the fountain.

“I dunno,” Zac shrugged, “Usually I would’ve dropped dead and slept like a log, but I couldn’t for some reason,”

Scarlet laughed.

“It’s not very funny. I need my beauty sleep!” Zac joked.

“Of course you do, princess. We wouldn’t want to disappoint all your die hard fans, now would we?” Scarlet cooed.

“Finally, we’re thinking on the same wave length!" laughed Zac, before turning serious, "But all joking aside, how come you couldn’t sleep?”

“Bad reoccurring dream. Can’t go back to sleep,” Scarlet said in a monotone.

“Sucks being us, huh?”

“Without a doubt,” Scarlet giggled as she pulled a pillow into her lap and held it tight.

“Without being too nosy of me, what was this ‘bad reoccurring dream’ about?” Zac asked, not knowing he was delving into uncharted waters.

Scarlet looked at him with hurt and anger, but once she saw the innocence in his eyes it melted away.

“Let’s just say I was in a situation and there was no way I could get out no matter what I did,”

“But there’s always a way out to everything,”

“Not everything, Zac,” Scarlet said grimly.

“Yes, there is. In every situation there’s a way out. It may not be the easiest, safest, sanest or even right option, but it’s a way out,”

Scarlet looked at Zac and raised an eyebrow at him. Wise words from such a young soul.

“You’re smart for a kid,” she laughed as she ruffled his hair.

“Kid? I’m 13,” he corrected her.

“Sorry your Royal Highness,” Scarlet joked.

“You are forgiven my Lady,” Zac replied in an upper class British accent.

Scarlet yawned. She was getting tired. She stood up slowly and stretched.

“Thanks for your help, Zac. See ya tomorrow,” Scarlet said

“Kay. You’re welcome. See ya,” Zac said as he waved at Scarlet watching her go off into the elevator. He sighed heavily as his eyelids grew heavier. He too was getting weary. He hesitantly stood up and took the elevator up to his room where he fell asleep like a log.
