The history of Myst and Myst Island goes back to hundreds of years ago. You might think that Atrus wrote this wonderful place or maby even Cathrine. If you thought any of those two people then you are way off, it was actiouly Ti'ana (Anna in english) who wrote that book. It all happened back in "Myst: The Book Of Atrus", Atrus had just discovered how insane his father really was. Ghen (Atrus' father) would create ages and link to them but he would make the people that lived their his slaves. Atrus knew that this was wrong and he saw to it that his father would pay for what he had done. Atrus soon formed a plan to trap Ghen on Riven (Ghen calls Riven his 5th Age) and banish him their forever. All he had to do was distroy all the linking books out of Riven but in the process he meat Cathrine and they learned that they both wanted the same thing to stop Ghen forever. They soon fell in love and that forced Atrus to also stop Ghen from marrying his beloved Cathrine. A few weeks went by and Atrus was on another age trying to duplicate the damage done by his father to Riven. He was trying to realine the moon do that their wouldnt be any more earthquaqes caused by the moons gravity. The age soon distroyed itself and Atrus was forced to link back to D'ni where he found Cathrine looking at a linking book. Cathrine said the she had just finished wrighting a new age and that they could live their as soon as they took care of Ghen. But in the end after Ghen is traped on Riven, Atrus discoveres that when ghen was forced to leave his home to go with his father to D'ni, Anna had followed them and for all the years that Atrus had lived in D'ni Anna had kept a close eye on him to make shure that no harm would come of him.

As the story continues and you reach the Epilog of the book you find that most of the island has been build by hand by Atrus and Cathrine, and they now have two sons Sirrus and Achenar. Atrus is Busy wrighting in his Journal:
.
"I realized the moment I fell into the fissure that the book would not be destroyed as I had planned. It continued falling into that starry expanse, of which I had only a fleeting glimpse. I have tried to speculate where it might have landed, but I must admit that such conjecture is futile. Still, questions about whose hands might one day hold my Myst book are unsettling to me. I know my apprehensions might never be alleyed, and so i close realizing that perhaps the ending has not yet been written."
.
...And so begins your adventures on Myst Island.
