Chapter 16

Kara sat back in the private plane tense. Her dad was talking on his cell phone. She was preparing for the worst . She was uncomfortable because they were flying a a private plane and going to the same airport where the crash was. She saw a man come back and whisper something to her father. Mr. Lambert hung up his phone and told Kara they were getting ready to land. She was shaking from nervousness and worry. They landed smoothly and she grabbed her bookbag and purse and followed her father off the plane.

"Kara, we're gonna find the Hansons and then I am going to have to talk to their parents. You can help Ike and Tay watch the younger ones. You got it?" Gary said.

"Yes, dad." Kara said. But what if Tay or Ike or even Zac was missing. What about poor Mac, Avie, or Jessie. Even Diana and Walker. Had her dad forgotten that? They got into a private car and headed towards the nearest hospital. Kara began to feel sick. She hated hospitals. The smell, the look, everything. She followed her father into the elevator. It seemed like eternity. they finally reached the 11th floor where the Hansons rooms were located. Gary Lambert took out a slip of paper.

"The older kids rooms are S112, S113, and s114. I'm gonna find Diana and Walker's room. Their room is S220. The younger kids rooms are down a couple floors. Be sure to knock. I'll meet up with you later." Gary instructed. Kara slowly walked down the empty hall to S112. Why did her dad act like they were all present? One Hanson was missing. She arrived at S112 and took a deep breath. she knocked softly. She heard a muted 'come in' . She swung the door open and saw Ike sitting on th edge of the hospital bed.

"Kara?!?! What are you doing here?" Ike said, his eyes wide with astonishment.

"I came to see you. I heard about...." Kara began. Ike got up from the bed and came over and hugged her.

"Kara, thanks so much. You don't know how much I need you now. How much we all need you now. " Ike said, tears forming in his eyes.

"Ike. It's OK. We're all here for you. " Kara replied. Ike let go of Kara.

"Well, thanks. You better go talk to Tay. He is really shaken up." Ike said, wiping tears from his eyes. He pointed to a side door that led into the next room.

"I'll be back Ike. Don't worry." Kara said and headed toward the side door. She opened the door and saw Zac laying on the bed with several IV's connected to him. 'I thought he said Tay was supposed to be in here.' she thought but quickly erased it because she knew all 3 older Hansons were alright.

"Zac. Its me Kara." she whispered. Zac stirred and opened up his eyes.

"Kara? Why are you here?" he mumbled.

"I'm here to see you. Are you okay?" she asked

"Yeah, just burned. I'm tired Kara. But I'm so glad you came to see me." Zac said yawning.

"I'll let you sleep. I'll be back later. " Kara said She walked through the adjoining door and she saw Taylor sitting on the edge of his bed with his head in his hands. She walked quietly into the room.

"Taylor." Kara said. Taylor whirled around. He saw Kara and tears filled his eyes.. He rushed over to her and the next thing Kara knew was that Taylor's arms had encircled her waist and he was telling her how glad he was to see her.

"Tay," Kara began, pulling away. "Are you alright? What exactly happened?"

Taylor sat down on the nearest chair and took her hand. She pulled another chair in front of him.. Kara was nervously awaiting Taylor's account of the plane wreck.
