Chapter 5

It was now Friday. Kara was excited. It was the last day of school, she was having dinner with the Hanson's that night and her cousins, Carrie and Mark were flying in tomorrow morning. Kara raced home as soon as she got off the bus and was nearly bouncing off the walls because summer, her favorite season had come. During the past week, Kara had talked to Walker Hanson one other time. He told her that the guys were excited to meet someone new and that they couldn't wait until Friday. Kara had also talked to her cousin Carrie and realized that Carrie loved Hanson too, but Kara did not mention anything about meeting Hanson to her just yet. All week, Kara had gone on AOL and looked up a lot about Hanson. Also, in that time, she had gone out and bought their CD, Middle of Nowhere. The only songs she really listened to were "MMMBop" and "Yearbook" . She just didn't have a lot of time. As soon as Kara walked in the door, her mother bombarded her w/questions about her last day of school. Cynthia didn't have to work on Friday nights or Saturday nights so she was home and would be able to go to dinner at the Hanson's. Dinner was scheduled for 7 PM. It was only 4:30PM. Kara decided to head up to her room. She took a short nap because being excited really wore her out. She woke up at 6PM. She took a shower and then took on the task of finding what to wear. I mean, these were big stars, what should she wear. She finally decided on a pair of dark brown corduroy pants from the Gap and a dark brown fitted t-shirt w/maroon and yellow trim on it from the American Eagle. She left her blonde hair down and put on some Dream from the Gap. After applying her make-up, she put on her ball-and-chain choker and ring watch. She was about to head downstairs when she realized she needed some shoes. She rushed back to her closet and grabbed some sandals she had gotten from Bakers, which about 99% of the girl population had. She rushed downstairs to find Cynthia Lambert dressed in professional looking creme colored dress suit. Her rhinestone earrings and necklace really set off the rest of her outfit.

"Come on Kara! Your dad is going ot meet us there. Let's go." Cynthia said impatiently.

"Kara slipped the last sandal on her foot. "OK mom. I'm here. Let's go." Her mom locked up the house while Kara rushed to the black Mercedes sedan. She hopped in and and the smell of leather reached her nose. Her mom got into the car and Kara could smell her mom was wearing Obsession by Calvin Klien.

"Mom, can I choose the CD this time? I don't want to listen to Fleetwood Mac. Puhh--lease." Kara complained.

"Oh fine. Just no Marilyn Manson or anything." Cynthia agreed reluctantly.

"Ewwwww. I don't even like him anyway." Kara said as she wrinkled her nose. She popped Hanson's CD into the CD player. She hummed along to MMMBop then to Yearbook and then back to MMBop again. After 20 minutes, her mom finally pulled into a driveway. Kara got out of the car and looked around. She saw a brick ranch style house. There were lots of woods around and back behind the house she caught a glimpse of a treehouse. She estimated that they had about 2 or 2 and a half acres of land. She started towards the house. Her skin began to tingle and she felt goosebumps on her arm as got closer and closer to the house. She slowly walked up the stairs and her mom knocked the gold knocker on the door. Kara stood there nervously as the door slowly opened.
