"Well, you've already seen the kitchen, dining room , and family room so I guess we'll start with the den." Isaac began. They walked into a dark room (the same room Kara saw when she first got to the Hanson house) and Isaac flipped the light switch into the "on" position revealing a room cluttered with stacks of sheet music, several guitars, a drumset, several synthesizers, and a couple of keyboards.
"Excuse the mess, but this is our working environment. We feel comfortable writing our songs and practicing in this area...ya know what I mean?" Isaac explained, clearing off a sofa so they could sit.
"Cool. SO, was Middle of Nowhere your first album?" Kara said taking a seat on a blue couch.
"NO WAY man!!" Zac said, a little over enthusiastically."We've had 2 other albums. MMMBOP and Boomerang. Ya wanna have a copy of each??"
"Well, uh, sure!" Kara replied. Zac ran over to the closet and swung open the door.
"Zac!!! Watch--" Taylor began but it was too late. A ton of sheet music and several notebooks fell from the closet on top of Zac.
"Ohmigosh! Zac!" Kara jumped up and began sifting through the papers in hope of finding Zac.
"Aaarrrrggggh!!" Zac yelled as he popped out from under the stack of papers.
"Aaahh!!!!" Kara screamed, totally unexpecting Zac to jump out.
"I scared ya, I scared ya. Didn't I?" Zac said, then busted out laughing and fell back onto the pile of papers.
"ZAC!!! God! Why do you have to act so immature?? Especially in front of a guest!!!" Isaac yelled, obviously pretty pissed at Zac's actions.
"Ike. Chill man. He's only 11. Leave him alone. He was just kidding around." Taylor said, trying to smooth things over between his 2 brothers.
"But anyways, Kara are you OK? You weren't too freaked out were ya?"Taylor asked.
"Oh yeah. I'm fine. He just scared the living out of me. I didn't know he was gonna pop out the papers like that." Kara said flashing him a smile.
"HEY!!! I found 'em!!" Zac yelled. He pulled out 2 CDs out of the mess on the floor and handed them to Kara. She looked at the cover of both and did a double take. She glanced at the CD then up at Tay, then back down to the CD and glanced at Zac.
"Wow!!! You guys look so....different w/short hair!" Kara said slightly taken aback.
Tay blushed and stared at his black Doc Martens while Ike, still miffed about Zac's theatrics just nodded. Zac, meanwhile had gone over to a huge gray table in the far corner of the room, that surprisingly, Kara hand't noticed before. ON top of the table, there were tons of Legos. Mainly medival time legos. Lots of lego castles and dungeons. Zac was busy playing w/the little Lego figures when there was a soft tap on the door.
"Tay, Ike, Kara? Are you guys in here?" Diana Hanson stepped into the room. She was wearing a long black cotton dress.
"Yeah, mom. We're here." Isaac replied bitterly.
"Oh. Kara your mom and Dad are leaving so you should get anything you brought and get it and meet them in the family room." Diana said pleasantly, sending a questioning look in Isaac's direction. She noticed the huge stack of papers by the closet and gave the boys a confused look and left the room.
"Well, guys. It was cool meeting you. I guess I'll bring these CDs back whenever I see you next." Kara said dissappointed.
"Hey! Don't talk like that. We are here a lot and plus, your out of school so maybe you can travel w/us sometimes. Also, I mean we'll e-mail everyday cuz I've got a laptop and whenever we're gone we can write ya. So, we'll be home tomorrow won't we Ike?" Taylor said comfortingly.
"Yeah...sure. Ask your mom if you can come over at around noon and we'll have lunch." Ike said, feelingly slightly better.
"OK. That sounds gre---- Wait a minute!!! My cousin Carrie is coming in to town tomorrow morning. I hate to ask, but would ya mind if she came. It's OK if ya don't think you'll feel comfortable and don't want us--"
"It's aight. Don't ya think Tay???" Zac said, looking up from playing w/his Lego men.
"Yeah...of course." Tay said flashing her a smile. "Here's our #. Just call before ya come over" Tay took a black felt tip pen and wrote the # on her hand. She wrote her # on his hand too.
"Well, guys. It was fun. I'll see ya tomorrow!!" She walked around to Ike and gave him a hug, which lasted a slight bit longer than she wanted, then Tay, and Zac, of course, who almost suffocated her.
"Bye! " the 3 brothers chorused as Kara walked out of the den. They soon heard the front door slam.
"Zac....you better just start running...RIGHT now." Ike said standing up.
"Uhhh......yeah......I'm tired anyways. Buenas noches Kara-lover." Zac snickered and ran out of the room.
"Aaargh. I could just...."Ike began.
"Ike. He's your brother, he's having fun. Plus, you KNOW it's true." Tay said dodging a pillow thrown at him by Ike on his way out of the room. Ike rolled his eyes and picked up the huge pile of papers that had falled on Zac earlier and shoved them back in the closet. While shoving them back in, he noticed a notebook w/a page of lyrics open. He read the lyrics on the paper, picked up the notebook, and left the room w/ a sigh. It had been a LONG day.
