POETRY BY GRINNINGDOG

YEP

"In your dreams, she said to me,
As I looked her over casually.
"On that, my dear, you can rely."
I said as she kept walking by.

PICKET FENCE

I drove my car through a picket fence.
Don't ask me why. It didn't make sense.
I didn't do it for vengeance, didn't do it for fun.
It just seemed like something that needed to be done.

IT'S NOT MY FAULT

an original poem by grinningdog's ten year ld

I'm a puppet on a string.
You made me do that terrible thing.
You pulled my string and made my arms fling.
And now I've broken that pretty bird's wing.

But I didn't do it
You did it to me
It's not my fault
Don't you agree?

LEARNING BY EXPERIENCE

I went to the john 'cause I had to pee,
But I found someone had been there before me.
I flushed it twice. I like a fresh bowl,
But the cigarette butts had taken their toll.

Water flowed up, poured over the lip.
I stood steady, didn't want to slip.
Everything would have been just fine
If I had had on these big boots of mine.
It's really too bad I didn't think about
The disadvantages of sandals before I went out.

AFTERNOON DELIGHT

I sing to the glory of midday slumber.
A chance to recline, my belt unencumber.
'Tis not the stuff of a long night's rest.
Recharging your mind in a warm safe nest.
'Tis twenty winks caught on the sly,
As lazy post noon time rolls by.
'Tis the blessing of a most merciful master
With the aid of a Lazy Boy envoking it faster.
I sing the praises of the afternoon nap,
Asleep on the couch in a newspaper wrap.
Sunday's sweet tranquil reward
Where people and chores may all be ignored.

MY BOYS

I have two boys
I love them so
I do my best
To help them grow
And learn to be
Successful men
So I can have some peace
In my life again
