Chapter 3

It was that Friday night and we had just boarded the plane. The Saturday before our friends through a party for us partly for our birthday and partly for us leaving. They also gave us a signed School Teddy Bear! Yesterday my class and dorm had a party for us too. I have just said goodbye to my cousins and Sara and Lily(my best friend in Melbourne) came to see us off!! I am still crying! Andy had to say goodbye to his girlfriend of 4 months-Grace. They're not doing the long distance thing but they sure looked rather "together" when they said goodbye, As for me well I wasn't seeing anyone but that didn't make it any easier to say goodbye to everyone. My dog, Kharma, is going to have to stay in Melbourne cos he was too old to travel according to my vet, he had been my christmas gift when me and Andy were four, it was heart-breaking leave him. Last night we had to go to a party our best family friends threw for us which was fun yet sad. 'Welcome aboard British Airways flight 142 from Melbourne to Bangkok then London, On behalf of the captain I hope you all have an enjoyable and safe journey…' As the flight attendant drolled on I gazzed out of the window into the dark night, ****In england I was to board at Ascot Ladies College, Andy and Josh were going to Eton College. Grandpa had quite a few houses, the big one in inner-city London is where we would base ourselves but a large estate in Suffolk was to be our out of town house. We were to arrive at 5pm London time on Saturday and would stay with some old family friends of dad's the Okleshaw's (The Okleshaw's were rich, really rich, the 2nd richest family in England we were the 3rd) for a few days till we could move in. The Okleshaw family consisted of Mr Martin and Mrs Karen Okleshaw, Mathew- 16 (interesting!!) Luke- 14 and Hally- 10 months. I've met the family before and as far as I remember Mathew wasn't bad looking!**** The plane's engines roared as it started the take-off (I hate take-offs and landings, my ears would throb) As the plane lifted into the air the I looked down onto the lights of Melbourne, it looked so beautiful, with the throbbing in my ears and the pain of leaving I couldn't help breaking down, I sobbed loudly into a pillow on my lap, Josh hugged me (he hadn't done that since mum died) I eventually fell asleep still crying, Andy looked real sad but he was to proud to cry. About 6 hours later I woke up as my ears had started to throb again as the plane was starting its descent, the flight attendant came past and asked how I was feeling, I told her about my ears so she gave me a thing to smell, it helped abit. We had a 2 hour stop-over in Bangkok and it was time for me to shop duty-free (YES!!!!) I had waited until now as things were cheaper in Thailand anyway, my mood suddenly improved (shopping is such a good medicine!) and I went of! An hour and a half later I came back to the planes gate loaded with bags, Dad just about had a heart attack- I was using his plastic!! All in all I had brought some new okley sunglasses, discman, a bunch of cd's, the new CK perfume and TommyGirl and a silk scarf for Mrs. Okleshaw. Once back on the plane I went back to sleep till we arrived in London.
