Tyndale Biscoe School
"The
UnOfficial Page"
This
school is undoubtedly one of the oldest and most prestegious institutions
in the Kashmir valley.Established in 1880, it was earlier known as Haddow's
School. I often used to take joy in saying that the full name of my school
is Christain Missionary Society's The Haddow's
Tyndale Biscoe Memorial Higher Secondary School, of the Dioeces of Amristar,
the Church of North India
Located
in the Heart of the Srinagar city and on the banks of Jhelum river, Biscoe
school has a history and a tradition of its own. A Biscoe boy lives by
the motto "In All Things Be Men". Excelling in studies needs not be mentioned
as a credential of this institution. Whats there to mention what is expected.
Biscoe is known for making men out of boys. Biscoe school has a tradtion,
which brings humans close to the nature.
During
my ten years of studies in Biscoe school, I have trekked and camped in
not only all the well known nooks of the valley of Kashmir, but also the
less known ones, where either the gujjar's or the Biscoe boys were known
to tred. I was awed by all those teachers, who were not only masters of
their subjects in the class rooms, but expert trekkers on the mountain
tracks, adept rows-men in regatta's and rowing races on the Dal, champion
swimmers in Dal crosses, leaders in cross-country run's, ... ... ...
I
dedicate this page to all those Master's of Biscoe School, who had given
us the traditions ... in the class and on the field and in mountains.
I
shall never forget those camps at Aru, Frasnag, Nichenai, Pahalgam, Yousmarg....
those trekks to KaousarNag, TarsarMarsar, Sang-e-Safead, Twin Peaks, Zabar-wan,
GangBal, ButthSar, AharBal... those cross-country runs up the Shankaracharya
Hill... that Cross-Paddle Emblem... those chilly mornings in the assembly...
those tiresome drills for the parents day...
Ah...
I miss that childhood.. those school days... that school... I miss Kashmir...
