Inglewood, CA - Great Western Forum November 18, 2000 The Offspring, Cypress Hill, MxPx The audience for this show was a mix between the Alternative mainstream audience and the punk rockers that The Offspring and MxPx continue to attract despite their mainstream status (specially in the case of The Offspring). The crowd gave a pretty good reception to MxPx as they kicked off the show with their fast punk rock songs. On their albums, MxPx seems to be slower than they actually are as their live show is full of energy and they make slow tunes such as "Responsibility" fast paced punk songs that definitely stirred up the crowd. Of course, the MxPx favorite was their anthem "Punk Rock Show." After the MxPx show, Cypress Hill proved to be able to fit in with the alternative crowd as they brought out members of Fear Factory to accompany them on several songs as they remixed several Cypress Hill classics to fit in with a rock sound and heavy guitars. Their show had a good balance between classic hip hop and the new rock infused hip hop. Specially worthy of mentioning is when they played "Lick a Shot" to which B-Real seemed to turn into a Jonathan Davis of Korn as he screamed Lick a Shoooot. Cypress Hill truly plays an inspiring show as their energy is incredible and very rare among hip hop acts. The headliners of the show played on a very well designed stage as they had several amusing extras to show while they blazed through their fast paced anthems. However, while musically speaking , The Offspring played an incredible show, their setlist did not represent what the audience seemed to want as they went for their softer songs and ignored many Offspring classics that would have certainly satisfied their moshers a lot more than "Pretty Fly." Their new songs need to be rehearsed a bit more as they certainly stood out from the setlist musically specially in "dammit I changed again" which they failed to play very accurately.
