The Offspring
Conspiracy Of One

Artist / Band: The Offspring
Record Label: Columbia Records
Release Date: November 14, 2000

Our Grade: B

Our Review:
Green Day may be playing grown-up--mellowing its sound and muting the snottiness and shtick--but the older, seemingly wiser, punk-pop rival the Offspring is content in its perpetually brashy and feisty adolescence. But who's complaining (for now)? The party's still a blast. Making good on the opening track's promise to "Come Out Swinging," the album's fueled by brawny, bracing riffs and caffienated tempos, albeit with a happy-go-lucky SoCal sheen. The album's title track, "Want You Bad" and "All Along" recall the ferocity of the band's indie days. With the silly antics of "Original Prankster" and the fight-song-like "One Fine Day" celebrating a 24 hours of pounding Strohs and going wild, this One makes it feel like it's senior year all over again.
