The sounds the stars have on their stereos. This week, The Offspring guitarist Noodles unveils his seven-inchers to Dave Everley.

FIRST RECORD YOU BOUGHT?

"It was actually something I asked my Mom to buy me for my birthday - one of those K-Tel compilations they advertise on late night TV. It had the Who, The Kinks, Shocking Blue and a load of other nonsense on it. Yeah, I've still got it. In fact, it's right at the front of my collection."

LAST RECORD YOU BOUGHT?

"Marilyn Manson's 'Antichrist Superstar'. I love it. It's got one of the greatest lines I've ever heard: 'I wasn't born with enough middle fingers....'!"

RECORD YOU WISHED YOU'D PLAYED ON?

"Iggy and the Stooges' 'Search And Destroy'. In fact, I wanted to play on the whole of 'Raw Power', the record it came from. I always wanted to be (Stooges Guitarist) James Williamson. People say that record's got an awful production, but I wouldn't change a thing."

RECORD YOU'D PUT ON BEFORE A NIGHT ON THE RAZZ?

"It would depend on what I was doing that night. The last thing I listened to before I went out was AFI's 'Very Proud Of Ya' - they're this great, solid punk band that Dexter put out on his Nitro label. But it could be anything - it could be AFI or it could be Simon And Garfunkel."

RECORD YOU'D PUT ON THE MORNING AFTER A NIGHT ON THE RAZZ?

"It'd probably be Simon and Garfunkel then! Great music for recovering from a hangover."

RECORD YOU'D USE TO SEDUCE A MEMBER OF THE OPPOSITE SEX?

"The Aftican Head Charge record. It's not quite techno, but it's along those lines. It's very ambient, very cool. It would definitely help anybody's seduction technique. It's a great record to fuck to."

THREE RECORDS YOU'D GIVE FIVE KS TO?

"The Rolling Stones' 'Beggar's Banquet', TSOL's 'Dance With Me' and the Dead Kennedys' 'Plastic Surgery Disasters'. Three fucking good records, from beginning to end."

RECORD YOU'D USE TO CLEAR A PARTY?

"(Laughing) The Offspring's first record ('The Offspring'). I love it, but I'm not sure everyone would..."

RECORD YOU'D PLAY AIR GUITAR TO?

"I don't play air guitar - I'm more of an air vocalist. If I had to, I'd jump around and sing to Black Sabbath's 'Paranoid' record."

MOST EMBARRISING RECORD SLEEVE IN YOUR COLLECTION?

"The first f**king Offspring record. I hate that cover. Mark Rude, the guy who did the sleeve, is a great artist, but it's just the most misrepresentative cover I've ever seen. Its just this full metal cheese - there's this guy screaming (makes 'Woooaarrgghhh!' noise) with an alien coming out of his stomach. I have always hated it. It is not an Offspring cover."

RECORD YOU'D RECOMMEND TO A KERRANG! READER?

"Jeez, there are a lot of great records out there. I just wouldn't know where to begin. I guess you could start with the AFI record. Try that one. You'll like it."
