The Offspring named Favorite Alternative Band at ArtistDirect Awards October 8, 1999: The first ArtistDirect Online Music Awards ceremony held in Los Angeles' House Of Blues on Thursday night (October 7th) featured live performances by No Doubt, Chris Isaak, Cypress Hill and The Offspring. ArtistDirect distributed the awards in 20 categories, including favorite fansites and the five categories in "Born on the World Wide Web." Among the winners of the night were Korn, Limp Bizkit, Sugar Ray and The Offspring. The nominees for the 20 awards categories were chosen by the fans via Internet, following a survey of the sites that users of Ultimate Band List (UBL) music website most often visited. Then winners were chosen by a voting pool at UBL and ArtistDirect websites. The Offspring performed two songs in the ceremony, The Kids Aren't Alright from their currently album Americana and 1994's Self Esteem (watch Offspring's performance here). The band also won an award for Favorite Alternative Band. "It was cool - it was about the only thing we ever won." Offspring singer Dexter Holland said after the ceremony. |
