Offspring Guitarist on Peace and Love at Woodstock

Guitarist Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman says The Offspring are going to Woodstock '99 for the party, not the history. "Honestly, I just want to see a lot of the other bands play," Noodles says. "I'm excited about the re-formed [Red Hot] Chili Peppers; I want to see what they've got going. There are a bunch of names on the list I want to see." One of those was Aerosmith, but Noodles will have to catch the Boston bad boys somewhere else, since they dropped off the bill due to reported scheduling problems.

As for the legacy of Woodstock, Noodles says he and the rest of The Offspring respect what happened during 1969 but don't expect a repeat performance this weekend at the 30th anniversary festival at Griffiss Park in Rome, N.Y.

"I've seen the [Woodstock] movie, and there was a great thing going on there, but I don't think it's going to be anything like that," he says. "For me, it's just going to be a music festival with a lot of different styles of music — a varied, eclectic music festival. I think it's going to be great. But it's not gonna be all peace and love, and 'see, we can do it if we all hold hands.' I'm not buying that."
