BAHRAIN CANCELS
Four different Bahrain cancels were used in Abu Dhabi during the British postal administration from December 1st, 1960 to December 31st, 1966. Mail with Bahrain cancels were considered from Das Island. Both British (Value Only) and Abu Dhabi (first definitves) stamps may occasionally be found with Bahrain cancels.

Type B2 Type B3 Type B4
ABU DHABI AND DAS ISLAND CANCELS
Six different British type cancels were introduced by the British postal agency and used in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. Four were used in Abu Dhabi and two in Das Island. All British types were continued to be used during the Independent postal administration and some of them used during the UAE postal administration. Three of them are used for airmail and registered mail at the same time, two only used for the parcel post, and one only used for the official mail.

Abu Dhabi Small Circle Cancel
The
first British type is the small Abu Dhabi circle cancel (Type
1) came into use in the same day of the opening of the post
office in Abu Dhabi on March 30th, 1963. The cancel inscribed “ABU
DHABI, TRUCIAL STATES 1” numbered “1”
or “2”. The cancel continued in use
during Independent and UAE postal administration. The latest use for (Type
1) is September 23rd, 1972.
Das Island Small Circle Cancel
The second British type is the Das Island small circle cancel (Type 2) came into use in the same day of the first British type and at the same day of the opening of the Das Island post office which locate in the postal superintendent’s office in Bahrain on March 30th, 1963. The cancel inscribed “DAS ISLAND, ABU DHABI, TRUCIAL STATES 1” numbered “1” or “2”. As the first type the second one continued in use during the Independent postal administration and the latest known use for (Type 2) is October 12th, 1971.

Type 3
Abu Dhabi Double Circle Cancel
On May 4th, 1964 a new British type (Type 3) the double circle cancel was registered in the Proof Impression Books in the GPO in London. The cancel is a difficult to find used during the year 1965, and common during the year 1967. It inscribed “ABU DHABI / TRUCIAL STATES”. The latest known use for the third type is December 8th, 1971.

Abu Dhabi Parcel Cancel
During the year 1965, the first parcel post cancel (Type 4) was introduced. The parcel post cancel inscribed “ABU DHABI / TRUCIAL STATES”.
Das Island Parcel Cancel
As the first parcel post cancel,
the second parcel cancel (Type 5) was
introduced during the year 1965. The parcel post cancel inscribed
“DAS ISLAND
/ ABU DHABI TRUCIAL STATES”.

Type 6
The Paid Cancel
The last British type cancel
that introduced by the British postal agency, was the official paid cancel
(Type 6). The official paid cancel
which was registered in the Proof Books in London on November 30th, 1966,
inscribed “ABU DHABI / PAID” in
red color. The latest known use of (Type
6) is March 18th, 1971.
