Chapter 25
Chapter 25-
Two weeks later, I stood face to face with my old house. "Finally." I said, as I
unlocked the front door. Duncan, followed me inside. To find out, Duncan and Patricia
would rather live here with me, then have me live with them in Georgia. Patricia had to
pack some more stuff up, so she sent Duncan and I up here with $350., we'd be alone for
two more weeks, until she got all her stuff from work transferred here.
"Wow, this place is huge. Party central!" Duncan said, placing his bags
upstairs, in the attic.
"HEY! OUTTA MY ROOM!" I shrieked, locking the door and running upstairs
and into my bedroom. "Your room is down stairs...next to the kitchen!"
"Ohh, even better!" he said, running past me with two large duffel bags in
his hands.
"Try not to knock anything overr....oh DUNCAN!" I said, hearing a loud
crash.
"Opps." Duncan said, looking up at me, as I stood in front of him minutes
later.
"Yeah, opps." I said with sarcasm while I went to get a dust pan. All my
family stuff was still in its place. Everything was the same way I had left it when I moved
to Georgia. I turned, hearing a soft knocking on the patio door. "Hello?" I questioned,
slowing opening the door. Shane stood in front of me. "Oh, hi."
"Hey girl." he said, making his way into my house.
"Can you do me a huge favor?" I asked, I wasn't about to be kind.
"Sure doll."
"One, don't call me doll, and two, get out of my house."
"No can do, baby face, you said A favor, not two favors. I won't call you
doll. Happy now?" he asked. He's changed, so much! Duncan heard two voices, and he walked
into the kitchen.
"Amanda?" he said, stopping short when he saw Shane.
"You never told me you had two boyfriends. We're you playin' me doll?"
Shane asked. I laughed, with a harsh tone in my voice.
"Yeah right Shane. We were never going out. And for you information,
Duncan is my brother!"
"Nice to meet you." Duncan said, reaching his hand out.
"So, baby face, your last name is donuts now?" he said, laughing at his own
joke. Duncan had a sour look on his face
"Oh, get out!" I said, shoving Shane out the door. Quickly, I locked it. "That
was the oldest trick in the book!" I called to him through the door. "And my last name is
LONDON. Can you spell London? Why don't you go home and try, then try me again." I fell
against the door and laughed.
"You know that jerk?" Duncan asked, chucking the peices of broke vase in
my trash can.
"He never used to be like that. Shane used to be the boy of my
dreams..until I reached reality."
"This place is huge!" Duncan said. "Oh, hey, Isaac told me you live right next
door to them?"
"Yeah." I pointed out the living room window. "That's the Hanson house!"
"Duh! I should of known, look at all those girls! God!" Duncan laughed. I
snickered and walked up the stairs, stopping at Duncan's new room.
"See that window right there?" I questioned, pointing to a medium sized,
white trimmed window, with navy blue curtains inside.
"Hmm."
"That's Tay's room. He, Ike, and Zac share it. When we were young, this
used to be my old room, and since we were too young to use the phone, we'd use walkie-
talkies, stringed cans, and even notebooked to talk to each other." As I spoke I
remembered how Taylor and I came up with the idea to attach a close line to the top of
our windows. We'd write letters to each other on a large yellow notebook that we'd have
attached to the line. Even though it worked pretty well, a storm came one day, a day we
we're home, so when we got back...our great invention was tied up in my large cherry tree.
"Earth to Amanda!" Duncan said, waving his hand in front of my face.
"Yeah. Sorry I spaced out for a moment. What were you saying?"
"I was asking if you could leave, so I could unpack my stuff." he paused.
"It's not that I don't want you here, it's just I want to get it done so you could show me
around town."
"What you really want me to do is let you unpack as fast as you can, so we
could go walk over to Tay's house and get you to mingle with most of the chicks..am I right
Duncan?"
"Yes. Could we do one more thing?"
"Sure thing Mr. Donut." I giggled.
"Funny. Can we eat? Cause I am starving!" I smiled and went up to my room,
I order us pizza, chinese, and even subs. I was hungry, what could I say?
Zac and Taylor stepped into their van and started to hum along with a tune Mrs.
Hanson was singing. A 50's tune.
"I can't wait to surprise Amanda..she'll die!" Zac squeeled.
"I know. I can only imagine the look on her face!" Isaac laughed. The whole
family laughed. Since the boys finished everything they had to do, they ask to go home,
and they were granted their wish.
"This is so awesome!" Avery smiled.
"Is that so?" Taylor asked, reaching over and tickling her. She giggled and
then started to scream with pleasure.
"Stop, Tayles, stop it!" she shrieked. Taylor stopped and looked at her.
"What is so awesome?" he asked.
"We're going to be home for the 4th of July parade!" Jessica and Avery
squealed with excitement.
"Don't you boys remeber anything these days?" Mr. Hanson teased.
"Yes, we do!" All three of the boys replied in unison.
Two days later, I was walking home from school, when noticed a familiar looking
van parked in the Hanson driveway. At that moment I was happy Duncan had basketball
try-outs. While I slowly approached the house, I saw Taylor and Isaac playing basketball.
"Come on Ike! Give me a break!" Taylor pleaded as Isaac scored another
basket. I smiled at the sound of his voice.
"Ahem." I cleared my throat. Ike and Taylor stopped in mid-motion and
slowly turned their heads toward me. "Hi." I said, dropping my backpack to the ground.
"Amanda!" Taylor cried, jumping over the basketball. We fell into each
other's arms and I smiled.
"Hey, I didn't know you lived in Tulsa!" Isaac joked. I looked at him with a
snicker, and then my eyes fell onto Taylor's.
"I'm back!" Tay said, with a sweet smile on his face.
"So I've learned." I said, feeling the urge to kiss him. I knew I couldn't kiss
him because it would only make things more complacated them they all ready were!
Reaching over I grabbed my backpack, as Isaac and Taylor silently led the way into their
house. "It's feels so good to be home!" I whispered to myself with pleasure, and,
discomfort.
