Chapter 5

It was early Saturday morning and I was sitting in my back yard. The wind blew waves into the pool, causing it to splash on me. My body was hot, so the water felt good on my skin. I had spent the past three days alone. I was still wearing the clothes I had on Thurday. Taylor had called me a zillion times, beggin me to call him. He even came by my house 12 times in 3 days. Each time I cried, and told him to wait."I'll be fine,I just need time!" Ha! I laughed. He didn't believe me, and he called me 4 times already, this morning. I wanted to see him, but when I did I cried. I was afraid to lose the only thing I had left. Kristi and her mom are in Oklahoma City, and they keep calling me, telling me to go back to Atlanta with them. I don't want to live with them. I went to the funeral yesterday as a way of getting back at my parents. They didn't want me there, they only cared about Kristi being there, but I didn't care, I went there and laughed. Yes, I laughed. I looked up at the sky and heard the phone ring. I looked at it. It rang three more times. "Hello?" I asked softly. My voice harsh and cracked. I hadn't said much in the past two hours."Mania, it's me!" Lacey said. I heard some noise in the background. Laughter, hee family was laughing and having fun. "Yeah?" I asked. Lacey sighed. "Honey, I talked to the lawyer and we went into your father's will..." she trailed off. "So?" I asked. I hated my parents, and I wasn't afraid to show it. Lacey cleared he throat. "Scott gave my custody of you. And I also get the house and alot of money." she whispered. My mouth fell open. "He sure left alot to you..I bet I get..let's see..of yeah- NOTHING!" I replied. "Amanda, don't be like that!" she told me. I snickered and laughed. "I have every right to be this way!" I told her rudely. I knew she was mad at me now, because I was never this rude. I shrugged it off and waited for her. "I want you to come live in Atlanta-" i jumped in. "No!I'm not leaving Tusla! NEVER!" I said, slamming down the phone. A second later it rang. I picked it up. "WHAT?" I cried. I thought it awas Kristi trying to convince me, but it wasn't. "Can I come over? Taylor asked. I smiled. "You know, you sure are a pusher for your age!" I laughed. I could tell he was smiling, because I laughed. "Alright, I need to talk to you anyways..so okay!" I told him. Minutes later Taylor walked into the backyard and sat next to me. The phone rrang. It rang 7 timesand Taylor looked at me "Aren't you goin to get it?"he asked. I laughed. "No, It's Kristi, of her mom..."I trailed off. It rang two more times. "My father gave Lacey custody of me and my house. So now Lacey wants me to pick up all the pieces and move to Atlanta and start a new life!" I filled him in. He nodded and snickered at the phone as it rang 4 more times. "WHAT?" I asked, finally picking up the phone. Taylor smiled at me for reaction to the annoying little sound my phone can make."Amanda!" Lacey said. "I'm coming over to your house tomorrow to help you pack!" She demanded. I laughed. "Who do you think you are? You expect me to be all happy, and jump on some plane and leave my life, friends, and Taylor, to move to Atlanta!" I laughed again. Taylor took my hand and his eyes shined at my bravey. "I'm sorry, but if you think I'm leaving Tulsa to start a new life without Taylor, you have another thing coming!" I said. My voice raising and my heart pounding. Tay smiled at me. Lacey cleared her throat. "I really hate to do this Amanda, but you have left me no choice. I have complete and all control of you and your like. And your coming to Atlanta if you like it our not!" she said. Right then a tear fell from my eye. Not Again!I laughed to myself. "No,No,No,No,No! I'm not going!" I screamed and hung up the phone. Taylor looked at me. "What happened?" He asked. I looked into his eyes and decided I wasn't leaving him. "She says I can't stop her from taking me to Atlanta!.." my voice trailed off. I knew I was about to cry, but I pushed it all back into my stomach. "But, I'm not leaving the one person I love more that anything, or the one place I love more than anything, or my friends I love more than anything.. because she owns me! No, I'm sorry bue it's not going to happen!" I said to him bravely. Taylor hugged me and I closed my eyes. He ran his fingers through my hair as our lips met naturally, and we kissed each other with all the passion that was bottled up inside of us. We pulled apart and the phone rang. I reached for the phone but Taylor got to it first. "Hello?" he asked. I searched his expression and I knew he was about to make the biggest mistake. He's acting on impulse. I sat waiting quietly."Taylor, it's Lacey...-" Taylor cut her off."You can't take her away from me, I'm not letting you!" he said to her. His voice raising to a painful high. I pushed back my urge to punch Lacey in the face and I listened."Taylor, I called to apologize!" she said, forgiving Taylor for his outburst. Taylor's facial expression lightened and he almost smiled."OKay.." he said, waiting. "I realized how much Amanda loves you, and I don't want to take her from you, since your all she has..." she trailed off. Taylor clicked the speaker button and told me to be quiet. I listened curiously. "I'm going to quit my job in Atlanta and I'll move Kristi down there..." she stopped. I smiled, for the first time in days, I smiled. "Really?" I asked, my face turning pink. Tay smiled at me and he nodded. Lacey laughed."Yes. I just need to make sure it's OKay with you that we can move into your house. And if you say-" I jumped in."No... I have another idea!" I said. Lacey was probably getting aggravated with me, but I didn't care I was happy. For the first time, I wasn't crying and I didn't have the image of my parents in my mind."Go ahead!" Lacey told me. Taylor looked at me with confusion."Well, you see there is this pink house that I used to live in, it's just down the street and it's pretty big, it just wasn't big enough for Moreen..." I said. Taylor smiled, his face becoming pink. He wasn't going to hide his excitement from me. Lacey laughed."Is it for sale?" she asked. Taylor smiled."YES!" he almost screamed. "It's really not that expensive. My dad knows the owners, and they are actually looking for a bigger house.." he trailed off. I looked into his eyes. "And if you sell the house to him, you can buy his house and still have alot of money left over!" Tay added. I looked at the phone and then back at him. I was at an emotional high. I was so excited I couldn't breathe. Lacey smiled."That's a good idea. Have your father tell the owners I'll be there in two days to look at the house!" she said. A loud crash came from her end of the phone. "I'd better go Charle (their dog) just broke mama's glass penguin!" she hung up and me and Taylor laughed.I stood up and pulled Taylor into the happiest hug I have ever given anyone. While still hugging him, I kissed him softly and blushed. It took him a second to realize what I did and he smiled."I better go tell Mr. Rimer not to sell... this is so exciting!" he said, waving good-bye as he ran into his house. I stood staring at his front door. I was over come with happiness. I ran up stairs and changed into my bathing suit. I plugged in the house radio, and played the Middle Of Nowhere c.d as I went for a relaxing swim. *~*~Chapter 6 coming soon~*~*
