Squall is a person you would never think would be a leader. He's cold, cruel and doesn't react very well to people's troubles. Infact, he runs. Squall is a student from the Academy of Balamb Garden, a military that trains ordinary people to use magic. He is one of the best students there is. He has problems dealing with people who try to relate to him, usually replying with "Whatever." As you can see in the picture, Squall has a scar between his eyes. He got it from a heated 'training' mach between he and Seifer, his mortal enemy. Squall's weapon is a Gunblade. A half-gun-half-sword.

Zell, another student of Balamb Garden, is a die-hard fan of the cafeteria hot dogs. He's a spunkey guy with loads of energy and attitude. Like most people, he HATES Seifer and often picks fights with him (which he usually loses to). His main weapon his his fists.

Rinoa Heartilly

Rinoa is the beautiful leader of a rebel group called The Forest Owls who fight agains the country, Galbadia for thier own country's independance. She first is seen at the SeeD graduation party where Zell, Selphie and Squall graduate. She imeadiately hits on Squall. Where it's love at first sight. Anyway, She's kind and caring and looks up to Seifer for some reason.

Irvine Kinnears

Now this is an interesting character! Irvine is from Galbadia Garden a Garden school in Galbadia. He met Squall and co. when he was ordered to stop Edea with them. He's a decent and sensitive person. His ego is HUGE, strolling around claiming he's the best sniper this side of Galbadia. But put him into the heat of battle, the pressure gets to him and he wimps out. He is also flirtatous. He with Selphie in paticular. Did mention he pisses Zell off? It's funny to watch. Anyway, Irvine uses a shotgun as a weapon, what else would a cowboy like him use?
Selphie Tilmitt

Selphie is a Garden student, too. She was transfered from Tariva Garden to Balamb Garden. Selphie is the cute character of FF8. Like Realm and Yuffie before her. What I mean by cute is that she is lighthearted and and she does lots of funny stuff. (singing about trains..) She is SeeD candadate along with Squall and Zell. Her weapon is nunchaku.

Laguna Lorie

Laguna is the second main character in FFVIII. He is a Galbadian soldier along with his friends, Ward and Kiros. He's a nice and sensitive guy. Who wants to quit the army and become a journalist. He uses a machine gun as his weapon.
Seifer Almsay

Seifer is Balamb Garden's best student. Always serious and very agressive, nobody really likes him. Squall skills are clearly better, and challenge Seifer's reputation. Seifer is very jealous because of this and veiws Squall as his rival.
Quistis Trepe

Quistis is a teacher at Balamb Garden. She was raised as an orphan untill she became 10 when she entered Garden. She became a SeeD soldier at 15 and is now a teacher. She is amazingly talented and she even has her own fan club! She also looks a lot like Aya Brea (Parasite Eve) or Sarah Machelle Gellar. She has a thing for Squall, but keeps it hidden. That is, untill Rinoa makes the scene. But with that whip, Squall better watch out!
Kiros Seguall

Kiros is one of Laguna's war buddies. He is quite bossy and pressures Laguna to do things he doesn't want to, but he would never let Laguna down. His weapon are a pair of daggers.

HIGHLIGHT TO VEIW On the exterior, she looks like a powerful sorceress with no weaknesses, inside she is a vunerable slave serving a more powerful being.

Cid is back! This time, he's the principal of Balamb Garden. He built this Garden years ago when he thought Balamb needed protection. He's described as jolly and forgiving. He looks a lot like Robin Williams, don't you think? Since Cid is not playable, he doesn't have a weapon. Even though he appears like a normal man, but he has a deep, dark secret.
