Guernsey, Channel Island Coins
Generally all coins offered are of very good quality, VF XF and UNC.
Due to the seemingly endless differences in grading coins - Please note the parameters by which I have graded the coins here. By request I now clean coins, but only the later copper (1930+) coins, for two reasons a) a cleaned coin shows all imperfections, b) A nice bright looking coin - just looks so much nicer. - the drawback is of course that copper reacts with air to dull the coin later.
UNC - A coin that is basically perfect - not been in
circulation. (totally uncleaned)
XF - A coin with original lustre, 95%
superb, good detail over most of the coin, but may have small
imperfections
VF - A coin showing original lustre, with
at least 66% detail, with small imperfections, may show smoothed
detail on leading facia.
GF - A coin which has some
imperfection. But still very collectable.
But generally it is hoped
that coins are generally graded higher than you may
expect.
Whereas Great Britain, Isle of
Man and Jersey used similar low value coinage (1 Pound = 20
Shillings, 1 shilling = 12 Pennies - therefore £1 = 240 pennies
= 480 halfpennies = 960 farthings). Guernsey used a slightly
different coinage.
(1 Pound = 20 Shillings, 1 shilling = 12 x 8 Doubles (So an 8
Doubles coin was equal to a Penny)

Guernsey Doubles Coins - Now becoming a lot scarcer than six months ago, watch the prices for these, particularily the low mintage issues, and some of the later issues are not so easy to find, once dealer stocks are exhausted, chance of re-stocking is going to be very difficult.
