Ant Atoll
Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia
Ant Atoll with a land area of only 0.72 square miles and thirteen small islets is the largest of Pohnpei's outer islands. It lies 8 nautical miles (9.2 miles) off the southwest side of Pohnpei. The inner lagoon is 28.7 square miles with some of the best diving found on Pohnpei. The main enterance to the lagoon is on the east side. This channel provides a great wall, drift dive out of the lagoon into a fabulous coral garden. The wall starts at a depth of 5 feet and extends down between 65 and 100 feet. White and Black-tip Reef Shark are found in aboundance. I dove the channel multiple times and every time was an unique experience.
