The AURORA 1872

Aurora, schooner; Totally wrecked at Catlins River on July 26, 1872, when leaving the river for Oamaru with a cargo of timber. The Court of Inquiry found that no blame was attached to Captain T. Keenan, who made every effort to save the vessel.

The Aurora, No. 52,201, was a schooner of 42 tons register, built at Dunedin in 1865, and her dimensions were; length 57.6ft, beam 19.1ft, depth 6.6ft
