The “MARY BRILLARD” 1873, Cutter

On December 19, 1873, the cutter stranded on Caroline Beach, Ruapuke Island, during a strong gale and become a total wreck. The Court of Inquiry found that the master, Captain James Adams, made every effort to save the vessel.

The Mary Brillard, No. 52,345, was a cutter of 13 tons register, and was built at Bluff Harbour in 1865, and her dimensions were : length 38.3 ft, beam 13.2 ft, depth 4.9 ft.
