The “PILOT” 1874, Cutter

Foundered off Henrietta Beach, Ruapuke Island, in September 1874, and became a total loss. The vessel sank while at anchor, the crew being ashore at the time.

The Pilot, No. 52,343, was a cutter of 16 tons register, built at New River Heads in October 1865, and her dimensions were : length 41.3 ft, beam 13.2 ft, depth 5.8 ft. She was commanded by Captain W. Anglem, and was owned by Maoris residing in Ruapuke.
