The vessel was wrecked near Bluff Harbour, a few months after the loss of the ship, the Flying Mist, probably in October 1862. The Prince Albert was engaged in the salvaging of the ship’s cargo and for some unknown reason stood out towards Dog Island. The brig was carried ashore outside the entrance to Bluff Harbour in a strong south-west wind, which broke her up completely. The Prince Albert was probably the vessel of that name, No. 40,920 tons, registered at Melbourne.
