He was born in Warren CO and reared and educated in Callaway.He enlisted for the Mexican War in 1846 and served 13 months under Gen. Kearney. In the spring of 1849, he started for California, arrived at Lessen Ranch, on the Sacramento river in Sept. of that year. In 1852, he went east, and on 20th of April, 1853, in Missouri, he married Miss Mary J. Miller, who survives him. He returned to Ca/ lived there until 1857, when he removed to the home near Milpitas where he died. His children are Mrs. Nick Bowen,Misses Maggie, Mollie, Mattie and John.."
