At Our Base Camp
This is a picture taken at our base camp . We are standing in front of our Cook Shack /Bath Shack /Sauna . We only visited it on Sunday afternoon to Monday morning and again Thursday morning at he end of the hunting season .
A Very Good Friend
This is a of Mark and I . He is the one that showed us around the mountain and told us where the elk would be eating . In this picture we are at Hayden Pass it is a old wagon pass over the mountain and is at the 10,000 foot level ,which made it hard to walk and climb because of the high altitude . This again is our base camp . Our camp in the mountains was another 4 miles and about 2,000 feet higher . We didn't get any elk this year the biggest reason was the lack of snow . We were hunting a burn off where the grass was green and the wind would of kept the snow cleared off of it. This make for a great area if the Elk had been forced into it . As it was on the last day of the season my son and I saw a lead cow and calf and a spike ,which had spikes of about 18 or more inches.
A Nice Set of Antlers
This is a set of antlers from a Elk a friend of ours from Poeblo West shot down in south-west Colorado . It was a huge Elk .
