Beersheba, or well of seven, was the place in southern Judea, about 40 miles / 65 kilometers south of Bethlehem and 45 miles / 73 kilometers south of Jerusalem, where Abraham made a treaty with Abimelech (Genesis 21:27-31). Dan, originally named Leshem, located in northern Galilee about 25 miles / 40 kilometers north of Capernaum and The Sea Of Galilee, was captured by the Danites and renamed after their ancestor Dan (Joshua 19:47-48). In early Bible History, Dan and Beersheba were the two Bible places often used to represent the northern and southern limits of the land of Israel. In a direct line, they were about 150 miles / 245 kilometers apart.
