The song of Jon McCall

A tall kindred approaches the fire, his ears tapering gently to a point. He carries himself proudly, and the glint of silver can be seen at the tip of his right ear. He smiles and his fangs gleam in the firelight,

"Greetings one and all, I bring a tale to my blood"

His voice is soft, with the faintest hint of an Irish burr.

"It is not my way to boast, but it is our way to tell tales and sing songs of the deeds we have performed. Perhaps it will prove informative, I certainly hope it shall prove entertaining."

He seats himself by the fire, and flexes his shoulders, his clothing is an unusual blend of old and new, black jeans, and cavalry boots, a muscle Tee, and studded leather armour, gauntlets and a wristwatch. Across his back with the hilt downwards is a short staightbladed sword. At his left hip is a large automatic pistol, and on his right several magazines.

"The tale I tell is of my time with the garou, of a battle we shared and a foe we vanquished,

My name is Jon McCall, demon slayer and sabbat hunter, and I share my songs with you"

Pausing as if for breath he begins to chant in a low melodic manner, his words even more so than before tinged with the soft tones of southern Ireland

"My tales begins in the city of steel,

my princes' home, my fathers' grave,

the tale I tell is of the moons get,

and of the demon in the storm."

"I dwell in the shadows of steels lost glory,

I hunt amongst its shattered dreams,

I guard my kinfolk, a living blade,

My claws are silver, my anger feared"

"within this demesne live the moons childer,

vast spaces they claim as their domain,

to serve my liege, I seek their friendship,

to protect my clan, at life's own cost"

"the moon beasts power is rightly feared,

in arrogance they fear no foe,

their secret halls , and meeting places,

are seldom sought, but swiftly found"

"In dissembling guise, an elfish noble,

I breached their lair and listened in,

They sought a foe, in friendship offered,

My blade, my blood, my life, my soul"

"They pierced my seeming, but found no malice,

my offer did they soon accept,

thus begins the time of shadows,

of rats, of blood, of steel and fire"

"We journeyed strait ways to another city,

By paths the moon beasts only know,

On dragons back, in eagle's shadow,

The battlefield we fell upon"

"with haste we passed through doors and courtyards,

we fell upon the dreaded foe,

bright steel our brave companion,

death and blood our treasured goal"

"our foes were falling, to the moon beasts wrath,

but more were lurking in the earth below,

kin to rat, and foul diseases,

the sewers held our final foe"

"my fathers gift, the mists embrace,

I flowed past their wall of filth,

a score of yards behind the foeman,

I brought my form to warriors guise"

"I stood forth from darks concealment,

my challenge echoed through the dark,

and though my foes were mighty were beasts,

they swiftly fell to firearms might"

"they charged toward me, blades held high,

screaming war cries, shrugging blows,

they fought with muscle, I with mind,

silver were the shots I fired"

"the beasts are mighty, strong and fearless,

heed you this, my kinfolk near,

learn about your foe in detail,

strength is nothing, if I know your fear"

"the blood within me burned more brightly,

my speed defeated human sight,

the beasts attacked like Satans hellhounds,

of seven foemen, only three remained"

"I cannot claim all the glory,

my fight was now to stay alive,

my gun exhausted, my foes upon me,

my allies came to hold the day"

"my claws bit deep, the blood flew wild,

my speed was fired from bloods embrace,

the one called Brandon, attacked my foemen,

his mighty blows hurled all asunder"

"the mist of fire was deep upon him,

my own life he sought to take,

I would not strike my chosen comrade,

my fathers gift I used again"

"my comrades madness took him over,

the demon he sought alone,

his claws ripped even air asunder,

he stepped to darkness then was gone"

"another came and stood before me,

beseeched my aid in the spirits realm,

my comrade true had gone before me,

I could not see him fight alone"

"with lunars childer all around me,

we stepped to places Cain never knew,

a place of spirits, ghosts and demons,

the battle now began anew"

"the foes I faced in that dark place,

were ones I had felled before,

my first kill, and my latest,

and all the ones I'd felled between"

"my fears were heightened, my madness came,

we fought amongst our very selves,

but Brandon fed me with his essence,

and guided me to rightful foes"

"the plan was simple, we guarded wise ones,

they performed a rite of peace,

and as our foes fell swift before us,

the demon came to strike them down"

"once to guard a prince of stature,

I slew demons, to earn my name,

And in this the place of dark and spirit,

I was called upon to do the same"

"my wounds were many, and most grievous,

my companions suffered much the same,

with shouted word the battle ended,

and once again peace now reigned"

"we returned to the world we dwell in,

my quest was over, the demon slain,

I returned to the steel city,

And now I have another name"

"the moon beasts named me ,as is their way,

to name the deeds I had performed,

my name amongst the garou is,

"Better living through superior firepower"

with pride I wear this pack name"

The figure stands and bows to the surrounding figures,

"and that, my kindred, is my tale.

It flows better in Gaelic, but it will suffice in Saxon.

I Jon McCall bid you farewell. "

With that the figure shimmers into an Irish wolfhound and lopes into the night.
