The Day We Got Hanson Tickets

Since we love Hanson so much, of course it was obvious that we were going to go see them when they came to San Francsico!! But, we never thought that, that day would come! But thankfully, it did...after a year and a few months... On the morning of May 17th 1998, we woke up at the crack of dawn!! It was 4:30am! But it didn't even bother me because I knew that we were going to get Hanson tickets and I couldn't miss that for the world! Kristina spent the night so that she could get her mom tickets too! By 5:00am, we were dressed, ready and out in the van!! It was so neat because we left in the pitch dark before the sun even came up and you could see all these lights and NO cars were on the road! It was weird, but VERY neat too!The Shoreline is about a half an hour and 15 minutes away. So we got there at 6:00am. The sun started coming up and it looked coolio! We were SO excited because there were only like 7 girls there before us. And when mom parked the car, me, Kristina and Kristee went flying like mad women over to the line! We were running and screaming! Oh god! =) When we got there, this one girl told us that she liked our shirts and she'd never seen them before and wanted to know where we got them! Those girls said they'd been there since 1:00am! We were sure we were going to get good seats cuz we were the second group or so in line!It was about 6:30am or 7:00am and then this guy that worked there came and said,"It says right here, you can't be on the campus before 8:00am. So you guys can go hang out in the parking lot until then". Everybody walked away. Bummer! So, the four of us (mom, Kristee, me, and Kristina) got back in the van and just looked at my Hanson pictures and stuff. Then, we started getting ancy, so we got out and played tag and just ran around and went crazy. Then this van of three girls pulled up! We have never seen them before. Kristina went over to them and said.."Hey, I like you shirt" The one girl said "Thanks! I like yours too". Then the three of us started dancing and the girls walked over to us and asked"would you like to play a game...we just made it up 3 seconds ago"? Kristina said "Yeah". But I didn't really want to cuz I'm shy! =) VERY SHY! But I did! They played this game w/ cards and chips called "Sequince". It was kinda pointless. Nobody was really concentrating on the game. They were talking about Hanson! Who needs a game when you can talk Hanson right?¿? =) Time passed and we decided to clean up the game so we put that away. Then I think it was about 7:30 or so and we just stood around waiting to go line up for tickets. Kids were playing their Hanson CD's w/ the Boomboxes and in their cars. Time passed and I think it was about 8:30am. The same guy that told everybody togo "hang out" in the parking lot told everybody to come line up again, single file. The huge bummer is that it wasn't first come first serve, the picked numbers. So it DID NOT matter what position in line you were in at all! Darn! So we could have slept later! But no, we stood out there freezing to death! Burr..Once everybody was lined up, the passed out these tickets and it had a number on it. Here's how it worked... They gave everybody that was 13 and older a ticket w/ a number on it. At 9:30 or so they'd pick a number and say you were number 4, then if you were, the people in front of number four (three people) would move to the VERY end of the line! Ugh! No fair! I was number 58 so we had this huge long line in front of us!! Know what? It was weird..the girl that got there at 1:00am got number 4, so that meant that she would get first pick of where she wouldn't to sit! We were kinda nervous that they would be sold out..the line seemed like it took forever to move up!! Grr...Finally, we got up to the window where they were selling the tickets. The guy said they had upper reserved still avalable and they were going REALLY quick..so he had to type that in quick or we would lose them! We got the last section that was available! So that was pretty lucky! And we have a pretty good view of the stage!! But..it COULD have been better! I should just be glad we got seats at all! I can't wait for the 15th of July now!I'm gonna be SO sad when that day is over because it might be the only time I ever again see Hanson! I hate to say that...and it's really awful that you can't bring in cameras all though I'm going to try! So, now, I'm dead tired! =) Oh well! It was for Hanson!
