BRONCOS 1998

Firstly, Mrs Janus sends her gratitude to those kind people that sent her "Get Well Soon"
messages, and says that her haemorrhoids have reduced in size to the size of large
grapes rather than the grapefruits we were looking at last week, and NO Hawkeye
Gnu, she doesn't wish to borrow your "special" meaty ointment applicator thank you.

And speaking of arses ……………. wasn't that a fine match today.
Totally played off the park by a far superior side, I honestly couldn't see any of the current
British teams doing any damage to Brisbane, they are reminiscent of the Wigan team
of a few years ago that looked unbeatable - I can't see anyone stopping them all the
way to the trophy.

Ok, the scoreline is a tad embarrasing but I actually think that the score didn't reflect the
game. I don't know what the penalty count was (e mail me with it) but it must have
been higher than the spot count on Sadfish's arse in favour of Brisbane.

The refferee was bloody apauling, every 50 / 50 decision seemed to go the way of
Brisbane, and even the video ref was in on it I think. Most of our refs play with
themselves on a regular basis - but from what I've witnessed of the Aussie refs they
must get awful wrist cramp.

One positive I got from the game, was the emergence of Tony Stewart who just plainly
took the piss out of Wendy Sailor and his BIG reputation. This game will be the
making of the boy and should increase his self confidence no end. Watch out for this
guy next season, he runs hard, has a great step and is as ugly as sin - all the hallmarks
of a great player.

There are tooooooooo many negatives to dwell on - but one thing that the Aussie
commentators said rang true - which was, and I quote "Paul Newlove is rated as the
best centre in the world in Britain", said just after he lost another ball, with a hint of
sarcasm. Another thing they noted with mirth in their voices, was that 6 players from
the Saints team had been selected for the GB squad. Say no more.

This ain't the HUGH JANUS column without mentioning Danny Arnold, who, didn't
really have that bad of a game - compared to the rest of them - Work hard during the
winter and prove me wrong next season Danny.

Ah well - that's all from me for this season, I hope you've all enjoyed reading this page,
and if you'd like back copies of previous matches that I've covered then please
purchase back issues of the Catholic Pictorial where you will find my column on page 3.

I shan't be covering the Aussie games due to my pending operation for my genital warts,
but if you would like to cover these matches for Sadfish in the same sarcastic and
childish fashion - please e mail Sadfish and let him know.

Toodle pip.
