3 months later on June 10th, Chloe was laying in bed around 10 at night when her phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Clo!"
"Isaac?! Hey!"
"How's everything going?"
"It's ok… I swear, you better get your butt back home soon. The twins are running all over hell."
Isaac laughed. "That's what I have to talk to you about."
"What, you're not coming home?!"
"Not for another 4 to 5 weeks… I'm sorry, the album is taking longer than planned." Isaac apologized.
Chloe sighed. "Fine, but if this baby comes while you're not here I'm disowning you."
"Deal. Zac's calling Kendall as we speak to tell her, while Tay just called mom. Kendall shouldn't be any problem, cause she isn't due for another month or two. Sweetie, do me a favor and call me when you go into labor if I'm not already there, ok?" Isaac asked.
"Isaac, you know I will."
"Yeah… Listen, I have to go, but I'll call you later this week, ok? I love you."
"I love you, too, Ike." With that, Chloe hung up and sighed, placing her hand over her swollen abdomen.
"You better stay in there." She whispered.
About four weeks later, around noon, while Chloe was at Diana's, she felt her first pains.
"Crap, Diana…" Chloe mumbled, holding her stomach. Diana was immediately next to her, asking her what was wrong.
"I… I think it's about time… I need to call Isaac…" Chloe grabbed the phone and quickly dialed Isaac's number.
"Hello?" he answered.
"Ike…" Chloe said.
"Chloe! Are you ok? Is it time?" Isaac asked her frantically.
"I think so… Can you do me a favor and come home today? I really, really want you to be here…" Chloe said.
"Yes, I'm out on the first flight to Tulsa. Hang in there honey, I'll be there soon." Isaac said goodbye and hung up.
"Where's Kendall?" Chloe asked.
"She had a checkup today." Diana answered. "Listen, I'm going to have Jess drive you... JESSICA!"
"Yeah mom?" Jess yelled back.
"Hon, come here!" Jessica appeared at the top of the stairs.
"Yeah mom?" she repeated.
"Honey, can you drive Chloe to her house really quick, and then to the hospital?" Diana requested. Jessica's eyes widened.
"You mean the kid is coming today?!" Jessica exclaimed. Chloe nodded. Jessica grabbed her keys, and moments later the two were on their way to Chloe's house.
"Uhh, Jess… You don't have to drive so fast." Chloe said just as they reached home.
"I know, but still… Ok, what do you need?" Jessica asked.
"Just a duffel with clothes, that's all. I can pack it really quick." Chloe said.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Mrs. Hanson, I'm afraid that the baby isn't responding well, and there could be possible dangers with that. We need to take the baby out as soon as possible." Kendall's doctor had told her.
"Is it going to be ok?" Kendall asked, totally panicked by the sudden news . She was barely 8 months pregnant.
"Yes, but only for now. We need to take the baby out today. Now, there's two ways of doing this. Either a c-section or we can put you into early labor." The doctor said.
"Which way is safer?" Kendall asked.
"I would say that putting you into early labor- without medication- is much safer then a c-section. But it's really up to you."
"Labor." Kendall said immediately. "Can I please call my husband?"
The doctor nodded. "Of course."
Kendall was brought to the phones, and she quickly dialed Zac's number.
"Hello?"
"Hey Tay, is Zac there?"
"Hi Ken. Yeah, just a sec."
"Hello?" Zac said picking up the phone a couple seconds later.
"Zac?"
"Hey Ken! What's up?"
"Something's wrong with the baby and they have to take it out. Now." Kendall said almost crying and Zac could here the fright in her voice. She heard something drop, then shuffling.
"Kendall?" Zac asked.
"Did you just drop the phone?"
"Uh huh. Oh my God, Isaac's flying into Tulsa this afternoon. It's the earliest flight he could find. I'll fly in with him, ok?"
"Why is Isaac flying in?"
"Mom didn't tell you? Chloe went into labor around noon." Zac said.
"You're kidding?! Jeez. Ok, maybe I'll see her in the hospital. Zac, I have to go now. Get here soon." Kendall said sort of whining.
"I'll try my best hun. I love you."
"I love you too. Bye." K told him.
"After Zac his goodbye they hung up, and the nurse then escorted Kendall back into the doctor's office.
"Ok, we're going to check you into the maternity ward and basically put you into labor. We'll breack your water for you and from then on everything will be regular. And yes, you're going to have regular contractions. A lot of people ask that question. Any questions?"
Kendall nodded. "I have a friend who's supposedly also having her baby. Would it be ok, if everything's timed correctly, if we're roomed together or something?" The doctor looked skeptical for a moment.
"Only husbands are allowed in the room at that time…"
"Our husbands are both in LA right now, recording. You know, Hanson? Any ways, they're supposed to fly back soon, so they're gonna try to be here. But I don't they're gonna make it. Please?" Kendall begged. The doctor nodded.
"As long as it's ok with your friend." She said and Kendall nodded.
"She's my sister in law and best friend. I'm sure she's gonna have a problem with it." Kendall rolled her eyes.
"Ok then. I'll have the nurse take you down and get you ready and changed." With that, Kendall was set into a wheelchair.
Meanwhile, Chloe was in a hospital room with Jessica next her.
"I swear to God I'm not having any more kids." Chloe rolled her eyes.
"You would have had five after this one… But four is STILL a big number, especially at 21." Jessica grinned. "What ever happened to you? I know you left Tulsa when you were 15, but why?"
"I knew that I was pregnant and I didn't want Isaac to have to deal with it." Chloe answered.
"But he was 20. He could have taken care of you." Jessica pointed out.
Chloe sighed. "In all honestly, Jess. I doubt he even remembers it."
Jessica looked at her. "Why not?"
"Easy. He was drunk." Chloe answered, just as Kendall came in.
"Kenni!" Chloe grinned, sitting up.
"Chloe! Oh my God, Zac told me that you were in labor…" Kendall grinned.
"Why are you in a wheelchair?" Chloe asked.
"Something's wrong with the baby. They have to take him out and they're gonna put me into labor soon." She almost cried. "I don't want anything wrong to happen to my baby. I'm just so scared of that happening and there is only a 50-50 chance it will go ok."
"No WAY." Chloe gasped. Kendall nodded.
"Yeah, it's gonna hurt like HELL! They have to break my water without cutting my stomach. And there is only one other way to do it…" she exclaimed.
The nurse helped her into a gown and the doctor came into the room. He pulled the curtain shut.
"What the hell are you going to do with that?" Kendall yelled. The doctor said something Chloe couldn't make out, and then she heard a long scream of pain from Kendall, then it all stopped.
The doctor pulled the curtain away, showing a very pale Kendall.
"Kenni, are you ok?" Chloe asked. Kendall nodded.
"That just hurt like hell. I swear I am not touching Zac again. When ever I do I end up with a baby." Kendall winced in pain.
Chloe then felt a wave of pain wash over her, stronger then the others. "SHIT THAT HURTS!" she screamed.
"How long have you had contractions?" Kendall asked her, totally soaked with water.
"First one." Chloe said and a couple seconds later she screamed again.
"They have to go into me and pull the baby out." Kendall said for no good reason. "I will probably hurt more!"
"Why do they have to do that?" Jessica asked, not knowing anything about pregnancy.
"Because this baby is 1 month and 9 days early. Which makes my body (You know what) not be able to open regularly to let the baby come out naturally." Kendall said and screamed in pain as her contractions started. "Good, these seem so much worse."
"Because your baby is early." Jessica said and both girls screamed in pain again.
"I HATE MEN!" Chloe said. "Why can't they have kids?!?"
"I hate Zac! He had to do this to me again!" Kendall screamed as another hit.
"YOU? Look at me! I've had 3 so far. You've only had one!" Chloe screamed as her contractions began to quicken.
"It's not my fault you get it on so much!"
"I can't believe you said that! And it's not like you do it any less!"
"Yeah, but somehow something has gone wrong. I haven't been pregnant with a million kids." Kendall screamed, starting to drown in sweat.
Just then the doctor walked in.
"How far alone is Chloe?" The doctor asked the nurse that was in there the whole time.
"About 8 per minute." She said.
"I think it's time." Chloe said sitting up a little.
"Yes it is. Miss you will have to wait in the waiting room." The doctor told Jessica as he got his gloves on.
"Ok. I'll see you later." Jess said and walked out to call her mom and Ike on his cell phone.
"Did you even pick out names yet? You know, if it's a boy or girl?" Kendall asked and screamed from pain.
"No. We didn't have time because he left so early." Chloe said while they gave her shots for the pain.
"Ok now push." The doctor told Chloe.
"I am never talking to Ike again! I officially disown him for not being here!" Chloe screamed and pushed as hard as she could.
"I already disowned Zac for even making me go through this again! And what kind of husbands are they?" Kendall said and screamed from another one. "They leave their pregnant wives at home and aren't even here when the babies are being born! And it's their fault we are here in the first place! I hate Zac!"
"Ok another big push Chloe. Come on." The doctor told her.
"ISAAAAAC!" Chloe screamed, pushing hard. "You little bastard! Why the hell did you have to do this to me?! I'm gonna kill you!"
With one last and final push, she heard a baby's cry and the doctor. "It's a girl!" Chloe sighed with relief as the doctor cut the cord and handed her to the nurse who quickly washed and wrapped the little girl.
A minute or two later, the nurse handed the girl to Chloe.
"Hey sweetheart." Chloe smiled, nuzzling her daughter. All of the sudden, the machine that was hooked up to Kendall, a heart rate monitor, started beeping like crazy.
The doctor raced over to where Kendall was and the nurse followed, closing the curtain. Chloe saw a little bit of Kendall's face, and she was sweating profusely and her face was almost white. She heard the doctor shout out a few commands, and she quickly caught Kendall's eyes. She nodded her head, a silent signal to Kendall.
Ten minutes later, the sounds of another baby crying filled the room. "It's a girl!"
Around three hours later, Isaac and Zac came rushing into the hospital room. Chloe was asleep, while Kendall was reading.
"Kendall!" Zac whispered, giving her a hug. "Did everything go ok?"
Kendall nodded. "It's a girl." Zac burst out into a grin.
"Have you picked out a name?"
Kendall shook her head. "I was thinking about Emily Madison, though." Zac nodded.
"I like that name."
Meanwhile, Isaac was sitting next to Chloe. He put his hand over hers, watching her sleep.
"Is it a boy or a girl?" Isaac asked Kendall. Kendall grinned.
"Chloe would kill me if I told you. By the way, she disowned you." Isaac laughed.
"Sorry about that… The next flight out of LAX was two hours away, then it takes about twos hours to get to Tulsa, then it takes about 15 minutes to get to the hospital." Isaac explained.
"Don't tell me, tell Chloe. By the way, I think she's awake." Kendall winked, then turned back to her conversation with Zac.
Isaac looked down towards Chloe, who's eyes were still closed. "Are you sure?"
"Positive." Kendall grinned. Isaac looked down once again, and this time Chloe's eyes were wide open.
"Hey Baby…" Isaac smiled. Chloe smiled back.
"Kendall's right. I disown you. But first, I want you to know that you now have 3 daughters." Chloe reported. "Pick out a name." She closed her eyes once again, and Isaac sighed.
"Give me a few minutes." Isaac closed his eyes also, thinking hard.
Minutes later, they opened again. "Star Dakota." Chloe laughed.
"Star Dakota after…?"
"Dakota after I just really like the name, and Star after the 4th of July." Isaac grinned. Chloe nodded.
"Star Dakota, also known as Dakota, it is."
48 hours later, Chloe was released from the hospital. Kendall had to stay in there a few more days to make sure everything was going ok with her and Emily. Lila was excited about her new little sister, even though she had to share a room with her. They were moving soon into a larger house so that all of the kids could have their own bedroom. They were moving on the 15th, and it was the 10th of July when they started packing.
"Mommy, can you help me?" Lila had requested many times. Isaac wasn't allowing her to work too hard, so she was in charge of packing up the master room and the kitchen. Lila was supposed to pack her own room up, but every other hour she needed help.
By the time the 15th rolled around, they had finally gotten everything packed. The moving van had their stuff up into the new house. Then came the difficult task of unpacking.
By the time Dakota was a month old, they still didn't have everything unpacked. Everything that wasn't a necessity was stored in the basement.
Zac and Kendall had brought Emily home a week ago, and Zac Jr. was not a happy camper. He was used to getting all of the attention, and now that he wasn't getting as much as he was before, he started to have huge tantrums.
Kendal called Chloe up one morning, asking her to bring the twins over. Zachary wasn't listening to her, and Emily was screaming her head off.
Chloe arrived about 15 minutes later with all 4 kids in tow. Lila went off to listen to uncles and father practice while the twins were put with Zachary and Dakota and Emily stayed with their mothers.
"Thank you so much!" Kendall exclaimed. "Emily isn't sleeping through the whole night, she wakes up at the weirdest times. Last night, it was 3:14 am, oddly enough."
Chloe laughed. "Dakota's my good baby. She's been sleeping through the night ever since she came home, and Lila absolutely adores her. The twins are running around like mad. I'm thinking of letting Lila get her ears pierced. She really wants them to be."
Kendall nodded. "Let the girl get some holes in her ears."
"Oh God. But if Lila does, Claire's gonna want to get her ears done, also, and she's way too young. I mean, she's barely even talking yet! Nick hangs around Isaac all the time, so I barely see him when Isaac's at home." Chloe sighed. "I hope Dakota's not gonna be this much of a pain."
"Zac's starting to call Zachary Jordan instead of Zac Jr., so I guess we're going to have a middle name child around here." Kendall grinned.
"I swear, they're adorable when they're young, but they grow up too fast. Nick's talking up a storm, more then Claire is. Lila's trying to help, but she's making more work for me. I know she means well, but still…" Chloe whined.
Kendall nodded. "I can imagine. But this is the last kid I'm gonna have for a while."
Chloe laughed. "From the way you and Zac get along so well, I'd be very surprised." Kendall laughed.
"Well how many more kids do you plan to have? Twenty?" Kendall teased.
Chloe shook her head. "Nah. Only 19."
The girls were laughing hysterically when suddenly they heard someone singing. It was unusual for the guys to sing while they practiced, and it was a female's voice.
"You don't think…?" Chloe asked, getting up. Kendall shook her head.
"No way. She's only 5." But when they reached the music room, sure enough, Lila was singing her heart out for her uncles and father. It was her rendition of 'More Than Anything'.
"I love you more than anything, than anything, I do…" Her voice was clear and strong, yet managed to be delicate and soft at the same time.
"She definitely got her father's voice." Chloe whispered as softly as she could. Isaac was playing the piano solo for Lila, and when he saw them he just nodded.
"More than anything…." Lila finished up. They all started to clap, and Lila's face turned bright red. She spun around to find her mother and aunt holding her sister and cousin while Chloe was whistling loudly.
"MOMMY!" Lila exclaimed, putting her hands on her hips.
"Opps, I wasn't supposed to hear that?" Chloe asked. Lila shook her head.
"You could have told me you were there!" she accused. Chloe chuckled to herself.
"Well honey, I think you did an excellent job. Four stars! Bravo!" Chloe started to clap the best she could.
"Well, we need to get going now… See you guys later!" Isaac waved goodbye to his brothers and Kendall and collected the twins. They drove home to find the answering machine blinking, almost urgently.
Chloe pressed the button, listening to the voice.
"Chloe, Isaac. I tried to get a hold of you many times, but no one's picking up. No one's answering the phone at Zac's, either. Meet me at the hospital ASAP. Something wrong with your sister." Chloe almost dropped Dakota when her mother in law said those words.
"ISAAC!" she yelled. She heard his footsteps and he soon appeared.
"Yeah?" he asked.
"Something's wrong with one of your sisters… Your mom wants us to meet her at the hospital. Now." Chloe said, picking up the phone. "I'll try to get a babysitter."
15 minutes later, Chloe and Isaac arrived at the hospital. They saw Diana in the waiting room in the ER, and quickly ran over to her.
"Mom,what's wrong?" Isaac asked.
Diana looked up, her eyes filling with tears. "Honey, Jessica fainted about an hour ago. They did a blood test on her, and they think… They think…" The tears that were threatening to spill over finally did. Isaac sat down next to his mother, rubbing her back.
"They think what, Mom?" he asked.
"They think she has cancer."
