Secrets

It was less than a month before Chloe's and Isaac's wedding when Chloe woke up suddenly, feeling nauseous.

"Isaac…" She nudged him gently, trying to wake him up.

"Yeah?" Isaac asked.

"I'm gonna puke…" Chloe suddenly got up and ran to the bathroom. Isaac put on his robe and followed behind her, not aware of what was going on.

He found Chloe in the bathroom, vomiting heavily. He walked over to where she was kneeling and gently pulled her hair back for her.

"Thanks." Chloe mumbled, as another wave of nausea washing over her.

Isaac rubbed her back as he had often seen her do with Lila. Once she was done, he got her a cup of water.

"Thanks Isaac." Chloe said, smiling weakly.

"No problem Chloe… Everyone gets sick every once in a while." Isaac answered, kissing her forehead.

The rest of the day went fine, with Isaac, Taylor, and Zac finishing up in the recording studio. It was their last day there, and they were touching up a few parts that didn't sound quite right.

Chloe and Lila spent the day at Mr. And Mrs. Hanson's, Lila playing with Zoë while Mrs. Hanson talked with Chloe.

Isaac walked in to catch the tail end of a conversation between the two woman. "… never did with Lila." Chloe was saying.

"Never did what with Lila?" he asked, opening the fridge and taking a swig from an already opened 12 oz. Pepsi.

"Nothing." Chloe lied. "Are you ready to go home?"

"Yeah. The new album sounds great, by the way. I brought an extra copy… Taylor and Zac have theirs, too." Isaac explained.

"Cool. I'll get Lila." With that, Chloe disappeared.

"Any idea what that was about?" Isaac asked.

"We were talking about what happened this morning." His mother explained calmly.

"She just wasn't feeling too good." Isaac decided.

"Probably so."

Chloe walked in with Lila in her arms and a smile on her face. "Ready to go?" she asked.

"Yep." Isaac answered. They said their good-byes and went home, where Isaac cooked dinner.

"Ok. I have never been able to cook a real meal in my life. How?" Chloe asked.

"My secret." Isaac grinned, stirring some of the soup he had made.

"By the way, Lila's spending the night with Zoë tonight." Chloe said. That wasn't uncommon. Lila loved to stay with her aunts, uncles, and grandparents, so it was easy for Chloe and Isaac to get a night off.

"Good… That means I can sleep in tomorrow. Perfect timing, thank you." Isaac said.

"So after dinner, I'll drop her off at your Mom's and Dad's, ok?" Chloe asked.

"Sure you don't want me to?" Isaac asked.

"Nah. You've had a rough day." Chloe replied. "That smells good… What's in it?"

Isaac shrugged. "Your usual. Eyes of toad, leg of newt…"

"In other words, you aren't gonna tell me?"

"Bingo."

Chloe stuck her tongue out at Isaac, then went to find Lila. When she went into Lila's room, she wasn't there, so she checked her own. She wasn't there, either. She did, however, find the studio door open. That was the place where Isaac kept many guitars, a set of keyboards, a piano, and a drum set for when the group came over and practiced.

She found Lila with a mini guitar in her hands, playing the strings in an off beat.

"Lila… You aren't supposed to touch Daddy's things." Chloe scolded her.

"But Daddy gave this to me." Lila said, her large brown eyes looking up towards her mother.

"He did? Well, then that's ok. But you don't come into this room without Daddy or me again, ok?" Chloe said, picking Lila up.

"Ok." Lila agreed.

Once they had eaten and Lila was dropped off, Chloe sat down on the couch, book in hand. She had only read a few pages when she heard the piano playing softly. She put down her book and walked over to the door of the studio. She recognized the song some, but she couldn't remember which lyrics it went along with.

She opened the door a bit, not allowing Isaac to see her. He took a deep breath then started to sing.

"As surely as the sun rises each day… So my love, will never change… And though the years may, come and go, my love… Will only grow and grow… Sometimes I wonder what you see in me… Because I'm only a man, flawed in so many ways you see… I want to share every moment of the day with you… And I want to share every sunset and every sunrise, and every… moonlit night, because as surely as the sun rises each day, so my love… Will never change…" Isaac sang.

Chloe watched him as his fingers ran along the keys. Once he had finished, he sat back and sighed. Chloe quietly walked up to him and wrapped her arms around his neck, then kissed the top of his head.

"You have no idea how much I love you." She whispered.

"I still can't believe it… I treated you like shit, and you still came back." Isaac sighed.

"Isaac, think about it. If anything, I should be thanking you. You gave me Lila. It should be me who's apologizing. I kept you away from your daughter all these years… You never even knew you had one. Only Zac knew… That you were Lila's father. And I regret that. I assumed you'd just abandon me and forget about Lila and I. I wanted to think of you in a different way… That's why I came back. Isaac. To give you a second chance… And the chance to know your daughter." Chloe whispered.

"I don't deserve you two."

"No, Isaac… We don't deserve you."

The next morning, Chloe once again woke up with a nauseous feeling. However, this time she was prepared and quickly got up and ran to the bathroom. She felt so miserable… She wanted to have Isaac in there with her, but he was still asleep. However, she must have been louder then she though she was, because a minute later Isaac once again walked into the bathroom, then pulled her face away from her face.

"Are you ok?" he asked.

"I don't know…" Chloe answered truthfully. "I set up a doctor's appointment yesterday for today, but I didn't want to worry you… But if you want to come, you can."

"I'll come. Mom and Dad can look after Lila for a while." Isaac said. "What time?"

Before she could answer, Chloe started vomiting again. Once done, she looked pale.

"11." She answered.

"We have… a hour." Isaac said, glancing at his watch.

"Yeah… Hey Isaac?"

"Yeah?"

"Thanks. I just want to say, however, I do think I have an idea about what this is…" she shrugged.

"What? Or do you not want to tell me?"

"If I'm wrong, then it'll be a lot of excitement for nothing, but I don't know…" Chloe sighed, drinking some of the water Isaac handed her.

"Ok ,then you don't have to." Isaac said, helping her up.

Later, while in the waiting room, Chloe was fidgeting nervously.

"Chloe Ouellette?" a nurse called. Chloe and Isaac stood up, hand in hand.

"This way, please." They followed the nurse to a small room, where they took Chloe's vital signs, then to a larger one where Chloe was instructed to put on a gown. Isaac started to step out of the room when Chloe grabbed his arm.

"Don't you dare leave me in here alone." Chloe threatened.

Isaac shrugged, then sat down in a chair facing the other way and Chloe got into the small hospital gown.

Just as Isaac finished tying the strings for her, there was a knock on the door and the doctor opened it.

"Hello. I'm Dr. Ross." Dr. Ross extended his hand towards Isaac, then Chloe. "What seems to be the problem today?"

"I, uh, I get sick in the morning. A lot… More then I eat." Chloe said, looking down.

"Ok. Last date of your period?" Dr. Ross asked.

"Umm… March 2nd through the 7th." Chloe answered quietly.

"Ok… Have you been sick during the day at all, or just in the morning?"

"Just in the morning." Chloe answered.

"Ok… Have you had intercourse since that date?" Isaac suddenly realized what was going on, and he looked at Chloe, surprised.

"Yes." Chloe squirmed a bit, then the doctor looked at her.

"I'm betting you don't, but do you have children? Biological?"

"Yes. A girl, 4 years old." Chloe answered.

"Ok… When you were pregnant with her, did you experience morning sickness?" Dr. Ross asked.

Chloe shook her head. "I didn't find out until the beginning of the second trimester."

"Your fourth month? That's a little unusual." Dr. Ross commented.

"I was under a lot of stress, so…" Chloe explained. Isaac raised his eyebrows as Chloe glanced at him, seeing his reaction.

"Ok Chloe. I'm gonna take a bit of blood from you, and then I'll be back in 15 minutes, ok?" Dr. Ross left, then sent in a nurse. Isaac absolutely hated needles, but when he tried to leave Chloe gave him the Evil Eye.

Once the nurse had left, Chloe laid down on the small table that was in the room. "I'm sorry."

Isaac looked at her, surprised. "For what?"

"For not telling you what I though happened." Chloe explained.

"Hey, that's ok… I didn't want to ask you anything like that doctor did, and I guessed that you'd tell me in your own good time." Isaac shrugged.

"Thanks." Chloe said, looking at Isaac.

"No problem. I have 6 younger siblings. I can usually tell… Even though mom rarely ever had morning sickness." Isaac grinned.

"Ugh. Sometimes I wish guys had to do all the hard work." Chloe grinned.

"Hey, woman have a much better pain tolerance then men." Isaac laughed.

"Liar." Chloe accused.

"Nope. I read it somewhere." Isaac said.

"Fine. Umm… What if your mom or dad finds out?" Chloe asked.

"They won't until after we're married, I promise. Then we'll announce." Isaac explained.

"They're pretty good at math, Ike… Plus I'm pretty sure your mom knows that it takes 9 months. If I'm even right, which I don't know… But the way the doctor was talking, we might as well not even wait for the results." Chloe grinned.

"Well, one, what can they do about it? Two, yeah, really!" Isaac smiled.

"Before we get too excited, we'd better wait…" Chloe reminded him.

"Fine. Be that way." Isaac stuck his tongue out playfully, Chloe then doing the same.

A few minutes later, the doctor returned with a grin on his face.

"Chloe, congratulations! You're approximately 2 months pregnant." Dr. Ross smiled, then turned his attention towards a glowing Isaac.

"Are you the father?" he asked.

Isaac nodded, still grinning.

"It's none of my business, but how old are you Chloe?" Dr. Ross asked.

"19." Chloe responded.

"So you were 15 when your first child was born?"

"16." Chloe corrected him.

"Ahh, ok. Are you the father of her, also?" Dr. Ross asked Isaac.

"First of all, what's my last name?" Isaac asked.

"Umm… Ouellette hopefully?" the Dr. asked.

"Nope, but at least… Ok, never mind. Yes, to answer your question."

"Ok, that's great. I wish you two the best of luck. You are free to go." The Dr. smiled, then exited the room.

Once he was gone, Chloe got dressed again and then the two left, clutching the other one's hand.

"Nervous?" Isaac asked Chloe for the second time that day.

"More then you'll ever know." Chloe grinned.

"Ok Ms. Olet…" The nurse handed Chloe a receipt, and Chloe grinned.

"Ouellette. And not for long…" with that, the two left. They picked up Lila, and Mrs. Hanson asked them many questions. Chloe nor Isaac answered them, however, telling her the answers.

"Fine. 2 weeks left until the Big Day." She winked, then said goodbye.

"Hey Lila, how was your sleepover?" Chloe hugged her daughter.

"It was fun! Zoë and I slept in her living room, and Grandma let us have ice cream!" Lila exclaimed, climbing into the car.

"That's great sweetheart!" Isaac smiled, ruffling Lila's hair.

"Hey honey, Daddy and I want to tell you something." Chloe said, climbing into the back with her.

"Yeah Mommy?" Lila asked.

"How would you feel if you had a brother or sister?" Isaac asked.

"I'm going to have a brother or sister?" Lila exclaimed, a smile on her face.

"Yes sweetie." Chloe answered.

"Wow! I get a Daddy and a brother or sister!" Lila exclaimed, feeling like the luckiest kid in the world.

"You sure do!" Isaac smiled. "But you know what?"

"What?" Lila asked.

"You can't tell anybody until after I'm your Daddy, ok?" Isaac said.

"Why not?" Lila pouted, wanting to tell Zoë.

"Because we want them to have a big surprise, ok?" Chloe asked.

Lila looked skeptically towards her mother, then smiled. "Ok."

"Promise?" Isaac asked.

"Promise." Lila answered.
