A few weeks later, en route to Texas, the phone rang *Wow. A phone can ring!*.
"Hello?" Isaac picked up the phone.
"Hello, may I please speak to Ms. Kendall Carter?" a male voice on the other side requested.
"May I ask who's calling?"
"Inspector David Mintz."
Isaac put his hand over the mouthpiece. "Kendall!" he yelled. "Phone!"
Kendall came running from the other room, laughing like crazy. She picked it up, unable to control her laughs.
"Hello?"
"Kendall Carter?"
"This is she. Who is this?"
"Inspector David Mintz. I'm sorry to inform you, but your family has been in a car accident."
Kendall gasped. "Is anyone hurt?"
"Yes, I'm afraid so. Everyone except for the youngest, Gordon, was killed. Gordon is in critical condition at St. Mary's right now."
Kendall fell down to the floor, tears streaming down her face. "Is he going to live?"
"10% chance. ma'am."
Kendall started sobbing, unable to talk. Amy heard her and came into the room, then saw her on the ground crying, cradling the phone.
"Ohmigod, Kenni... What's wrong?" Amy sat down beside her, trying to calm her down.
"They're... dead." Kendall started rocking herself, as she dropped the phone. Amy picked it up, asking if anyone was there.
"Miss? This is Inspector..." Mintz started.
"What the hell is wrong with Kendall?" Amy interrupted.
"Her family was in a car accident, and it was fatal to all except her brother, Gordon. He has a 10% chance of survival." he explained.
Amy gasped, then immediately hung up the phone. She hugged Kendall, who was know laying down on the floor sobbing.
"Isaac!" Amy called. Isaac walked into the room, curios to what was going on.
"I'll explain later, just please help me get her to the bunk room." Amy instructed. Isaac shrugged, then lifted her up.
"Jesus she's light..." he mummbled as he carried her to the bunk room, where all the beds were, and he set her down on her own.
"Ok, what's going on?" he asked.
"I'll tell you in a sec... Where's your mom and dad?" she asked.
"They rode the other bus this time, remember?"
"Crap... I'll be right back." Amy made a mad dash for the phone, as Isaac was left alone with Kendall.
Amy dialed the other buses' number, tapping her foot impatiently as the phone rang.
"Hello?" Mrs. Hanson picked up.
"Hi, this is Amy Carlson... Listen, we have a dialema over here... Kendall just found out that most of her family died, and that her little brother's about to." Amy explained quickly.
"Lord... Tell your driver to stop at the next rest area." with the, Mrs. Hanson hung up the phone.
Amy ran up to the front of the bus, and told the driver, Pat *I'm mean*, to pull over.
At the next stop, everyone knew what had happend, and only Mrs. Hanson and Amy were allowed in the bus where Kendall was.
"Kendall, do you want to go see your brother? I can have a plane ticket for tonight." Mrs. Hanson asked.
Kendall nodded, still unable to talk, in fear of breaking down again.
