Hide not your talents
Below you will see my six-week plan and also some
extracts from my students' MG papers. I hope you explore
the idea of using multiple genres in your classes--it can be a challenging
experience for the teacher but the rewards are many! If you are interested,
I suggest you read
"Writing with Passion: Life Stories-Multiple Genres" by
Tom Romano (1995).
Rough Six-Week Plan for the MG Paper:
Week 1: Introduction to the MG Paper and selection of topics
Throughout these six weeks students keep journals.
WHERE IS THE KEY?

TODAY IS CAT'S BIRTHDAY
. . .
I bought you a religious book, "Kuran". I've read it before. Please
spend your time reading it.
Give a chance to this day to be your first birthday.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! (It's hard to be a brother.)
. . . I found it,
I wonder hannibal
Also Hannibal
And
Hannibal...
THE LEGEND IS SPEAKING...
Although I don't know much about my mother I love her. Because she was a very interesting woman.
She died when I was ten. As for my father, despite all
his rules I loved him too. He made me start music. One day I was playing with
the broom straws like a gutiar. And he found an old string ukelele for me. It was
my first musical instrument.
. . .
As for my father's rules, he made me go to church and had my hari
cut like a torn out chicken. Therefore my hair has been quite long
in the rest of my life. Maybe it's a symbol of freedom. . . But I lost my freedom
when I met Devon. She was the most beautiful and intelligent girl I had ever met.
I became addicted to her. Not only to her but to drugs with her help. Maybe it was the beginning
of the end.

I am shivering
But the winter remains in the past long ago
What is wrong,
Why won't my tears ever dry?
. . .
I was born and have lived in fire
But now
I am shivering;
. . .
I felt high, lived high
Smiled low in fire,
If I can rain
I will flow through the sun
And do not have pain
If only I can rain. . .
What is wrong? You are lost. I cannot stand to see you like this.
What can I do? I remember our last conversation. You said you were
bored. You were looking for the key. I don't know where the key is. But
I'm sure it's not hiding inside the drink!
It was in my brother's pocket,
The door opened
And
I'm crying;
Because it is the end of the shivering;
I am RAINING.
How you managed
To be brave as a lion
To be cunning as a fox
To be a real nightmare
To your enemies
How you managed
To be diligent as a bee
To be democratic as an ant
To be a reliable administrator
To your people
How you managed
To be combative as Mars
To be persuasive as a diplomat
To be a noble leader
To your army
You are the one
That I want to be similar to
Like two halves of an apple
Except one point
Unfortunately you lost
But I hope I don't!
JIMI HENDRIX
Which are the most precious times
When I turn off the lamps
Another light emerges
The light of the prince
The light of the cool
The light of peace
Because we are together at nights
