The Prince Of Peace

We admire the heroism of Napoleon, the dauntlessness of Caesar, the fortitude of Stonewall Jackson, But would a man call for Napoleon when his wife lies a corpse, or seek the consolation of a Caesar when he buries his child, or send for Jackson as he prays at the dying bedside of his mother? No! He feels the need of a man possessed with more than courage. He craves the aid of a man of sympathy and kindness,a man acquainted with grief,a man whose words can heal a heart that aches and breaks---a man like Jesus!

A.D.---in the year of our Lord. How great the influence of that lowly carpenter. So much that men began to reckon time by his coming, and now no one can date a letter without acknowledging his birth.

Yet he never did the things which ordinarily accompany renown, like go to college, write a book, lead a military force, head a government; but he is recognized as the master teacher, aouthor of the mightiest army, king of kings, and though he was the object of strife,he is celebrated as the Prince of Peace.

Alexander, Caesar, Charlemgne and I

myself have founded empires,but upon

what do these creations of our genius depend?

upon love, and to this very day millions would

die for him.

Napoleon Bonaparte

1769-1821

receding from us,and history contracts

the record of their deeds into a narrower page.

but time has no power over the name and

deeds and words of Jesus Christ.

William Ellery Channing

For unto us a child is born.....and his

name shall be called Wonderful,Counselor,

The Mighty God,The Everlasting Father,

The Prince of Peace.----Isaiah 9:6
