Douglas R. Cummings
Class of 1947
Douglas Cummings graduated from Crescent High School in 1947 and received a
Bachelor's of Science degree in Geological Engineering from Oklahoma University in 1952.
Doug
was a First Lieutenant with the U.S. Army Ordnance, serving his country at Aberdeen Proving Grounds,
Maryland, and one year in the Far East Command in Japan and Korea.
Doug began employment with
Kirkpatrick Drilling Company as a geological engineer, soon assuming general management of the company
and Vice-president of Kirkpatrick Drilling Company. Eventually he became the owner of Cummings
Energy Managing, D.R.C. Investments and presidents of PEDO Energy Corporation and Seabren Gas Systems,
Inc.
Cummings served a business directorship with Oklahoma Natural Gas Company in Tulsa and has
been a member or director of several banks and oil industry related activities.
He has held executive
positions in the International Photography Hall of Fame Museum, Oklahoma Philharmonic Society, Red
Earth, Inc. and Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce.
Doulas serves numerous health, educational, art,
energy and family affiliated foundations.
In 1984, Douglas received the Governor's Arts Award; in
1987, the Curt Schwartz Business Volunteer Award; and in 1991, the University of Oklahoma Regents
Alumni Award.
He married Peggy Macy, a fellow CHS classmate. They have two sons, Sean and Brent.
Crescent can be proud of him as an active church member, a successful businessman and a philanthropist.
