Mickey Leon Hart
Class of 1974
Mickey Leon Hart was born to Connie and Aaron Hart and graduated from Crescent High School in 1974 after spending his entire childhood in Crescent. He participated in athletics, scouting, church activities at First Christian Church and enjoyed an active and caring extended family. He was President of the Class of '74, football team captain, a state VICA speech contestant, a NYC United Nations seminar delegate, all-district catcher, God and Country Award recipient, junior deacon chairman, original Fellowship of Christian Athletes huddle captain and was able to attend Cameron University on a full athletic scholarship, participating in both football and baseball. For four straight summers, Mickey made rosters of the American Legion baseball teams in both Guthrie and Kingfisher. He also played summer rugby in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada during college. Mickey's Bachelor of Science degree included certification in American History, Democracy, Oklahoma History, Psychology, Driver and Safety Education and Physical Education/Health/Saftey.
Mickey then completed his Masters in Education in Education Administration at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He served as middle school counselor and then elementary, middle school, high school and special education center principal in Edmond Public Schools. Post-graduate work at the University of Central Oklahoma and the University of Oklahoma emphasized in Education Administration and earned standard school administrator certification for Kindergarten through 12th grade.
During various tenures in public school teaching and administration, he was able to form private businesses for young people in the performing arts as well as driver and safety training. As founder and director of ShowTime! National Talent Competition, Inc., he was able to travel through the Northeast and Midwestern portions of the United States coordinating age-appropriate yet competitive performing arts events for young people.
As owner and operator of Hart Driving Academies, Inc., he has been able to promote quality commercial driver training programs at multiple teen driver education facilities throughout the state of Oklahoma, serving over twenty thousand students. After further studies, Mickey received Standard Oklahoma Certification as Superintendent of Schools.
Mickey has had numerous leadership opportunities throughout his career. He was the original building administrator of special federal program provisions for special needs preschool students as well as developing and implementing the district transition plan for the school aged multi-handicapped students of Edmond. He was able to serve on the architectural planning committee of two new elementary schools and a new high school. He was part of the administration team that helped reorganize the district from one to three high schools, from three to five middle schools and converting from a mid-high to a four-year high school configuration. He has been asked to serve on various accreditation evaluation teams by the Oklahoma Department of Education as well as develop the district middle school classroom guidance curriculum.
Mickey was honored to be a Colonial Williamsburg Teacher participant with Putnam City Schools to enhance his background in U.S. History. He has served four different school districts as a teacher, counselor, coordinator and building administrator at all levels including the domains of preschool, elementary, middle school, mid-high, high school and special education. His first passion is moving learners to their maximum potential while supporting quality classroom instruction.
Mickey has been able to serve on church education committees, teach Sunday school, volunteer for Breakfast on Boulevard, Celebration of Children Festival and currently works with a community outreach program for a Warr Acres church. He enjoys family activities, sporting events, lap swimming and reading. Mickey honors the diligence, perseverance and unending support of both his numerous ancestors and family in and around the Crescent community as well as Crescent's wonderful citizens.
